The Unwanted Mate

Adjusting: Nina's POV

It's been a month. I've tried running away, and each time the man would hunt me down and drag me back to his home. I didn't understand it. He tells me he doesn't want me, but keeps dragging me back here and keeping me hostage in a bedroom adjacent to his. The first night he brought me here he made it very clear that he wanted nothing to do with me before dumping me not so gently onto the bed in the bedroom next to his. The next day he sends Lilly, his Omega and housekeeper's daughter as a attendant to me. I'm thankful for Lilly. She is sweet and funny; she is the only confidant I have in this new world.

I had just gotten out the shower when I heard the knock at the door and then it opened and in poppped Lilly. I smiled at her as she giggles bringing in my breakfast tray. I let go of a breath I didn't realize I was holding due to me being relived it wasn't Keith or Linda.

"Nina." She's smiling from ear to ear with a twinkle in her eye. Lilly was a pretty girl with straight brown hair and dark blue eyes.

I wonder had Tommy finally asked her out, as I'm still learning about this new world of shape shifting beast and magic, I've discovered Lilly is un-mated wolf and she has a crush on the un-mated Beta's son,Tommy of a neighboring wolf pack, who seems to be just as interested in her but she claims their ranks are to different to intermingle which I find stupid. "He's a Bata and I'm an Omega, our worlds will never join." She'd say as she daydreamed about him talking to me as I would sit locked away in my room. But as of late after my last escape attempt have I been allowed to venture beyond the bedroom. But assigned body guards are always ever present and though Lilly is sweet, I knew she too was playing my babysitter.

I looked in the closet and pulled out a pair of jeans, a white crop top, and white sandals. I had French braided my thick ebony mane into an updo style.

"Why are you so happy? Do you have a mate? Possibly Tommy?" I smiled asking her this as I shimmy into my jeans. My thighs are so unforgiving. With Lilly as my attendant, Keith had her given a credit card with no limit to shop for all things I would need. Yet now I'm starting to think everything Lilly bought she had her size in mind more than mine. I glanced at my phone and saw a text from Gabby. She was my roommate back home. She had been concerned about me, but I told her I was with my father side of the family and would be coming home soon. I read the text seeing it was about when would I be returning to the office. I was a legal assistant at a prestigious law firm. I had been there for nearly five years, so when I had sent in for an additional extended leave, my boss, Mr. Jackson gave it without question in considering I had just lost both my parents in such a short time back to back, but life had to eventually move on and it was time for me to try and start. I had a life outside of this new world and it was something Keith and I needed to discuss soon. My father's death had indeed turned my world upside down and introduced me to a whole new one outside of the one I knew, but it was time for me to take my life back. Texting Gabby a 'I will call later' text I slide my phone into my back pocket and look at Lilly who is still smiling.

"No Tommy didn't ask me out, his friend Roy did." She shrugged her shoulders, "Oh wow the cute one with the hazel eyes?" I ask looking at myself in the wall to floor mirror.

I see her nod her head at me in the mirror.

"But that's not why I'm excited."

I turn to her with my eyebrows raised waiting for an explanation.

"We are havinga Sunday's dinner!" She all but screamed.
