Can We Talk Pt. 1 Nina's POV

564 Words
Nina sat in her room waiting for the sound of Keith's return. After a day of shopping and girl talk with Lilly, she had finally had a chance to call and talk with Gabby. "Oh my God Nina, what is going on? It's like you have disappeared off the face of the earth! And Edward is asking about you nonstop and Mr. Jackson is on the verge of going insane without his personal assistant." Nina shook my head and sighed. "Gabby, it's good to talk to you too." Nina said once her friend ran out of steam. Nina closed her eyes thinking about Edward. She had forgotten all about him in the mist of the chaos. They had met at a company's conference, he had been charming with a likable personality, so when he asked her out Nina went on a date with him without hesitation, but then her father' sudden illness caught her up in a whirlwind which caused her to halt things with him, and he said he understood, yet now Gabby says he is concerned about her and wanting to see her. Nina and Gabby had talked for hours laughing and catching up until the light knock came and without waiting for a reply in walked Linda, Lilly's mother with a tray of food and a glass of wine. Nina ended the call with Gabby, who was still chatting fifty to nothing. "Gab, I gotta go. I'll be home soon. Love you lots." Gabby laughed as if she knew she was blabbing on and simply said bye. Nina laid the phone down and turned to look at Linda, who stood silently with her brows furred and her light blue eyes judging, unlike her husband and daughter, who always gave and encouraging smile and eyes with a warm welcome; Linda gave no warm welcome to Nina and showed her distaste for her immediately. Straightening her back and lifting her head, Nina looked at the woman. "Thank you Linda." The older woman nodded her head. "It's baked Salomon and steamed vegetables." Nina turned up her nose before she could stop the action, she hated sea food, yet Linda saw the reaction and smirked. "Oh, do you not care for the fish? It's a favorites of the Prince, I serve it often so perhaps you should get use to it or..."Her voice trails off, but Nina got the drift, she was pretty much telling her she could starve or leave "It's fine, Linda. I won't be here much longer." Linda actually smiled at Nina's words, the woman was actually beautiful even with the graying at her temple blending into her dark brown hair. "I'm glad to hear this news has the Prince rejected you finally?" Nina was confused and apparently it showed in her face because Linda chimed in happily. "The Prince doesn't want you Nina, but his beast does. It is my hope that he rejects you, he doesn't need a weak human as a mate to rule the kingdom. He needs a beast like himself. I'm at lost as to why the Moon God would have allowed such a match." Linda spoke with disdain and boldly let it be heard in her voice. Nina didn't know why the woman hated her. "Linda, please just let me know when the Prince arrives. Thank you." Nina walked off towards her adjoined bathroom dismissing Linda.
