I would still see his signature smile when I closed my eyes, remembering how he used to let me play with his wavy black locks. It been a couple months now but it felt like yesterday. It was the first Christmas without him around. No more comedy nights, or marshmallow hot chocolates at seven a.m. and no more Zayn. "Time to go home honey." My mom said putting her arm around my shoulder. "Not just yet mom. I have so much to tell him." I replied looking at Zayn grave. 'Here lies a beloved son and loving friend' Bestfriend. He was my bestfriend. I knew one day this was going to happen but it was so sudden. I didn't even got time to tell him what I was keeping for years now. I loved him so dearly more than a friend. We grew up together in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. Never put a foot out of the town instead we went and managed to explore every single part of our small town together. From hiking to camping on the riverside we did everything together. But now there is no together, it's just me. "Why did you leave me alone?" I kneeled down crying. I still expected him to come back and argue with me or place the tip of his index on my nose and say 'sup cutie' like he used to. The cold winter breeze had another type of solace only I was capable of understanding right now. I got home approximately at dinner time. I walked to the dining room to find his parents along with my mother. "Anna." Zayn's mother greeted me with a smile that hide her sadness. I gave her a little hug. They were also going through a boundless pain at what happened. We had dinner in an unbearable silence. I kept remembering that day. We were coming back from school when he got an attack, I waited by his side as the paramedics came but it was too late. His parents told me a thousand time that there was nothing I could do but I couldn't stop blaming myself. They were trying so hard right now to stay strong but I could tell how broken they were. Jenna took out a small wrapped box from her bag after dinner handing it to me. "Zayn wanted to give you this for Christmas." She said her heart heavy and tears threatening to come out. I glanced over to my mom and she nodded at me. I took the box from Jenna's hand. I haven't even thought of anything for Zayn and he had a gift planned for over three months now. I couldn't control my tears and started sobbing loud letting my emotion out. "It's okay Anna." Zayn's dad kneeled down in from of me wiping my tears with the pad of his thumb. Inside I found a heart shaped pendant. I clicked it opened to find something engraved. 'I love you.'
