Chapter 9 Goodbye

1461 Words
A man whose face was covered by blood was grabbing an army doctor with a medicine chest on her back. "f**k! Go with me! Otherwise, I don't mind tying you up!" The female Army doctor struggled. "There will be the Darhold's corps forward. If we go further, we will die!" Ryon snapped, "Jay, what's going on?" "Ryon, Mike got two shots on his chest. We can't stop the bleeding. We couldn't move him, so he was still there. The army doctor must follow me to perform emergency surgery for him right now." The female army doctor trembled with fear. "I won't go. I won't go. I want to go home." Jay pointed the gun at the doctor's head. "If you say no once again, I will shoot you!" The doctor was so scared that she wet her pants and couldn't stop quivering. "I can go with you. If it is on his chest, she can't perform the surgery in her current state." "Thank you, Christine! Mike will be very grateful." Ryon dragged Christine to the command room and reached out to pull her clothes. Christine gnashed her teeth and cursed, "Ryon, you beast. Your buddy is about to die. What are you thinking about!" Ryon took off his specially made bulletproof vest and wrapped it around her with a serious face. "They shoot and won't show mercy because you're a woman. Be careful. You hear me?" Ryon was the commander-in-chief of the whole army and could not leave here. And his bulletproof vest was still warm. Christine heard her heart beating so fast. The unusual feeling arose from the bottom of her heart, making her a little flustered. Ryon walked her to Jay's car. "Finish the mission in place of Mike. Remember to bring him back alive!" Jay thumped his chest and promised, "I will!" Ryon glanced at Christine and said, "And bring her back, or don't let me see you again." Jay chuckled. He did not anticipate that Ryon could be such a lover. Ryon seemed to have thought of something. He untied the amulet on his neck and put it on Christine. "My mother got it for me. It has kept me safe all the time. Now it's for you." The amulet was simply a tiny square silver token engraved with some blessing characters, but Christine felt that it was so heavy. A flush of strange feelings welled up inside her. "Do you believe that?" "I didn't believe it before. But now I do." It touched Christine. She was stunned for a moment and then kissed Ryon on the cheek. Goodbye, Ryon. This kiss's the reward for your care in the past few days. The car started, and Ryon stood there in a daze. He raised his hand to touch the place she had kissed, but his hand stopped halfway because he was worried that it might smear the hickey. Love was like wine. Whoever drank it would get drunk. It was not because of the wine but because of the people who drank it. Christine stared at the rearview mirror until Ryon's figure turned into a black dot and vanished from her sight. She admitted that she seemed to have fallen in love with Ryon. And if truth be told, she had never felt the same thing in her life. Although she and Marcus were a couple, he gave her a feeling that he was more like a good friend who took good care of her next door. It was like relationship but not love. However, if people asked, she would still choose Marcus because she was certain that he could give her a good life, which was good no matter for her or Nina. On the contrary, she could not see through Ryon or have some control over him, not to mention lead a happy life with him. "You have a deep affection for Ryon." Christine smiled and said, "Sure, he's my man." Jay took a glance at Christine, patted his head, and murmured, "Why do you look so familiar? Have we met somewhere before?" Christine did not take it seriously. After all, she was the young lady of the Ygritte family. Occasionally, she would show up in the interviews with her father. The car bypassed the dense forest, passed through the artillery fire, and soon arrived at its destination. A few bodies were lying on the ground, and blood was everywhere. The sounds of gunfire and the rumbling of planes could be heard. Several soldiers built a temporary tent with branches, and a man with blood all over his chest was lying on the ground, dying. Jay strode over and held the man's hand. "Mike, hold on!" With that, the tough man actually shed tears. Christine took out a scalpel, a hemostatic forceps, a blood bag, and bandages from the first aid kit. She put on the mask and was about to start the surgery. The lying man suddenly grabbed her wrist and said in a weak but firm voice, "No need for anesthetic." Christine knew that soldiers should always keep their minds clear. "It hurts." "It doesn't matter. I can stand it." From beginning to end, the lying man did not make a grown. Christine was impressed. At this time, a soldier reported, "Jay, the A team of Darhold's troop has passed through the defense line." Jay gnashed his teeth and said, "Damn it! Let's go and kick their ass." He took a few steps and then turned to the soldier and ordered, "Take good care of Mike and the doctor. She is Ryon's woman. Otherwise, I'll kill you." "Yes!" The operation lasted for three hours. Christine carefully stitched up Mike's wound with a calm face as if the gunfire outside had no effect on her. She wrapped the bandage around Mike's shoulder and heaved a long sigh of relief. Mike moved his cracked lips and said, "Thank you, Christine." "You're welcome. It's my duty." Christine looked up at the darkening sky and had a plan in her mind. It was only a dozen miles away from Eastcester, and Eastcester was a neutral country as well as a refuge for the refugees of the two countries. If she could sneak into the refugees' camp, she would be sent back by their government. She got the pistol on Mike's waist and quietly hid in the medicine box. As soon as she stood up, she found more than a dozen soldiers surrounding her nervously. She pretended to be shy. "Is there a temporary place I can use for the personal problem?" The soldiers looked embarrassed. They were men, so they only needed to find a place in the wild to solve their personal problems. A soldier pointed to the dense forest not far away. "You may go there." "Thank you." With that, Christine walked into the dense forest, a smirk tugging at the corners of her lips. By the time the soldiers realized, she had already run far away. "Damn, I can't find her!" "Go and find her! Otherwise, we will die!" On the other side, Christine took off the clothes from a civilian's dead body and was ready to rush to Eastcester. After a glance at the chain in her hand that she had almost forgotten about, she took out her pistol and shot it. The bullet grazed her skin and broke the chain. She simply dealt with the scratch and hurried on her way. Suddenly, she felt that someone was following behind her, so she slowed down on purpose and suddenly hid behind a tree. The footsteps were approaching, and she silently counted the number in her heart. One, two, three... She jumped out, aimed at the comer, and pulled the trigger. "Who are you? Why are you following me?" To her surprise, it was a thirteen-year-old girl. The little girl timidly pointed at her clothes and said not fluently in the language of Cheagard, "That's my mother's clothes." Christine frowned slightly and wondered what she wanted. The girl wouldn't ask her to give it back to her, would she? "Here you are!" Christine thought for a while and gave half of her food to the little girl. The little girl stared at the silver token on her neck, and a trace of jealousy flashed in her eyes. "Thank you. Can I kiss you?" "Sorry, I'm not used to being intimate with others." Christine always felt that it was strange for a child to appear in a place full of gunfire, so she had to be on guard. Suddenly, the little girl pounced on her. Christine reacted quickly and kicked the girl away. However, there was a tingling sensation in her palm. She lowered her head and saw that it was a syringe. "Damn it!"
