Chapter 2 A Charming Demon

1393 Words
Ryon hung up the phone without waiting for Carlin to finish expressing his surprise. Carlin was befuddled. Who will General Wyndell propose to out of the blue? He doesn't even have a date! Despite the doubts, he still had to hurry to prepare for implementing this order. After all, Ryon worked with thunder-like violence and windlike swiftness. Anybody who disobeyed his orders was asking for trouble. After a long day of exhaustion, everyone in the Army doctor's dormitory quickly fell into a deep sleep, except for Christine. She tossed and turned and couldn't sleep. Hearing the sudden ringing of her cell phone, she bent down and quietly tiptoed toward the restroom. She did so because cell phones were not allowed to be used here except by military officers. She opened her phone to see that it was a message from her best friend Daisy White on w******p: Marcus's safe return meant that their wedding would take place as planned. As soon as she became Marcus's wife, she could take Nina away as a matter of course. Every thought of Nina's condition made Christine gloomy. Back then, at the age of five, Nina was in terror after seeing her mother fall from a building. Although she was 16 years old, she was still suffering from mental illness and was often frantic. Christine only hoped that she could give Nina a peaceful life during her lifetime so that Nina would not be bullied by anyone. Early the following day, Christine got her clothes packed and left a note before leaving the dorm. She needed to get back to Monttown City before the wedding, so she had to hurry. Lukas, the head of logistics for the medical corps, heard about her situation and immediately sent a military vehicle for her, which would arrive in half an hour. She stood at the crossroads with her suitcase and waited with great anxiety. A screech of brakes jarred the silence. A soldier dressed in camouflage with his face painted in camouflage got out of the car. The soldier, straight and expressionless, saluted her smartly, took the suitcase from her hands, and put it in the back seat. Finally, he kindly opened the car door for her. "Thank you," Christine said. The man, however, did not say anything but nodded slightly. She got into the car, quietly took out her phone, and sent a message to Marcus: However, the message failed to be sent. Christine checked and realized that there was no signal on her phone. Maybe the signal in this thick forest is really bad? She didn't think much about it but put the phone back into her pocket. It wasn't until she looked up that she realized this wasn't even the route to the airport. She sized warily up this soldier who was driving the car, wearing camouflage and boots, with a gun at his waist and deep marks on his arm, although there was no shoulder patch. She concluded that the man must be a soldier, or even an officer, only to have deliberately torn off his shoulder patch. She quickly calmed down and slowly took out the scalpel in her bag and held it in her hand. Just as the military vehicle turned sharply and braked, she quickly lunged up to press the scalpel against his neck with her body's inertia. "Listen, turn around, or you will see your own blood." He was startled at first, then raised his eyebrows and smiled, not the least bit frightened by the scalpel pressed on his neck. Christine said coldly, "This scalpel is tiny but sharp. I've used it to pluck out hearts, cut blood vessels, and even cut bones. So now I can easily cut the aorta in your neck as well. I'm a doctor. I save people, but I certainly know how to kill too." The icy scalpel brushed his neck and stopped at his aorta. The soldier's blood was snaking across his tanned skin with a single stroke. However, he turned his head and smiled at her as if he could not feel any pain. His smile was seductive enough to charm everyone. Because of the confined space and lack of air circulation, the entire car was gradually filled with the smell of blood. She frowned slightly, and the knife in her hand went a few deeper, causing blood to flow. He, however, was still smiling seductively, still as if he could not feel any pain. She was at a loss as to what to do. This person was either in a vegetative state or a demon. How can he not feel pain? It was evident that the person she met today was not a vegetable but a demon. The man slapped her scalpel down to the floor while she was lost in thought. Then he pinned her down and locked eyes with her. He was like a dangerous panther, and she was stubborn and refused to admit defeat. "Nice. I do have a good eye for picking my girl." Is it Ryon Wyndell? What's he going to do? Is he crazy? She snorted and asked, "General Wyndell, is this how you repay me for saving the lives of your subordinates?" He gently touched her earlobe with his lips, causing her whole body to tingle as if she had experienced a lightly electric shock. She almost fell into his eyes but was shocked to open her mouth wide by his following words. "You're right. I should really thank you. I decide to marry you." Ryon was earnest when he said this. The warm blood from his neck dripped down on Christine's face, so hot that it even burned. She struggled to think of a response. This must be a joke. Wait, maybe not? Ryon is smart and knows how to survive. He will probably only deal with people who can give him benefits and let him go to higher places. I am the eldest daughter of Mayor Ygritte, but not the most favored one. I could not help him either in terms of influence or strength and might even be a liability. After thinking about this, she concluded that either he was crazy or he wanted to use her as Marcus Blair's fiancée to blackmail the Blair family for his benefit. Thinking she was facing a psychopath, she tried to calm the demon and pull him back to his senses. She tore off her shirt to cover the bloodied wound on his neck. She said as gently as she could, "General Wyndell, listen, I'm just a pawn of the Ygritte family to get hold of the Blair family, and I'm not the only pawn. You can't threaten the Blair family by k********g me." "But there's only one Christine Ygritte in the world." She missed the point and asked, "Huh?" He tenderly wiped the blood off her face with his fingertips. "Christine, I just want you." "General Wyndell, you may have misunderstood something. Even if Marcus liked me, he would definitely follow the Blair family's request for their benefit. I am of no value to you." "No, you must have misunderstood something. Since when do I need to blackmail the Blair family?" Never and ever. Christine began to wonder what the man in front of her was really up to. She narrowed her eyes slightly and decided to ask directly, "What do you want exactly?" He poked her soft chest, "You. Your body, your heart." Christine froze in place. She could be not sure whether she had heard wrong, or Ryon was crazy. Otherwise, she was going crazy. She had no contact with Ryon before, and she never believed he would fall in love with her at first sight. He is a soldier and a general. There is no way he would do this. He smiled as he got up and pulled his belt with one hand. Oh my god, what the hell is he doing, this utter demon? He could have even strangled her in this thick forest without anyone finding out, let alone that they were on his territory. I can not die here. How can Nina live alone? She warned sternly, "Ryon Wyndell, the Ygritte family is not as powerful as yours, but it has some influence in Monttown City." He slightly raised his eyebrows, then suddenly drew out his belt and smiled charmingly.
