Intimidation

Chapter 8

I felt someone grab my arms and pull them behind my back,which hurt so bad I let out a loud scream and tried to get away.

It didn't work,and I could hear someone walking and clapping from behind me but I couldn't see who.

"I finally caught up to you. Seems like you aren't as smart as you thought Miss Camilla" the man said.

His voice wasn't familiar at all,but I could only think of one person that it could be.

My thoughts were confirmed when he walked in front of me and took off the fabric that was over my head,and there stood the man who was following us.

"Really!? What do you want? Why were you following us?" I asked.

He smiled and motioned for someone to come over from behind me.

Another man in all black walked up with a suit case and the man opened it up to show me something.

He pulled out a large box of pictures that looked like they've been through a lot of trouble.

He opened the box and pulled some out.

I didn't want to look at first then I decided that I should since I did want to try to find some way to figure out what he wanted.

I looked down and my body froze.

There were pictures of my dad and brothers carrying bodies and putting them into the trunk a of 2 cars.

I felt sick and had to look away to stop myself from throwing up.

"Why look away now? It's not like you aren't going to see it soon. This is what they do. I followed you to warn you of the dangers ahead of you if you aren't willing to agree to my terms" he said.

I looked at him angrily but before I could say anything he raised his hand.

"Before you say anything you might regret,listen to and think about what I am proposing. If you help me find out where they took my family,I will help you in return. Anything you want I will give to you. But only if you agree" he said.

That did sound like a good deal.

My brothers and dad shouldn't have taken his family no matter what they did and I don't know why or who they are but I'm going to find out.

"Can I at least have some time to think about it?" I asked.

He sighed and thought for a few seconds.

"Fine. But after 48 hours I will do everything myself and when I do it,none of you will like what I have in mind. Do not disappoint me" he said,placing a small phone into my pocket.

He walked off and I saw Gabriel behind him being held by men twice his size and I felt bad that he has to be in the middle of this because of my family.

"Let him go" I said.

The man waved his hand and the men let go of Gabriel who ran over to me.

The people who were holding me let go as well and they all walked off and got into another black vehicle.

"We need to talk" I said sternly,as I walked over to our vehicle and let myself in.

I knew my brothers and dad did some questionable things but this..I could have not imagined.

It hurt to believe that any of this could be true but I don't know what to think right now.

But I know how I can possibly find out.

Gabriel got in and so did the other men and I made sure to scoot all he way over to the left side as if I was angry with him.

"So,did you know about my family taking his? Or was this all just something else you were payed not to tell me" I said,glaring at me hoping this would work.

He stayed silent for some time looking down and my stomach sank.

"My job is to protect you at all costs. Telling you something like that is not my place and if-"

"Wow. You really think this is all just a job? Peoples lives are in danger and apparently because of my family you and I almost died today! So don't bring up that job stuff with me because I know what a job is and what this is. This isn't what you make it seem to be. Take me to my family now" I angrily said.

I honestly thought that guy was lying.

I thought that when I brought it up to Gabriel that he would deny it and I would have some hope that it was really just all lies.

But I was so wrong.

I've never felt so hurt and betrayed by my own family so much but I cannot help them hurt more people.

If I would have known all of this I would have stayed where I was and gotten a hotel or something.

But my biggest concern is if Lyla knows..because if she does,our relationship will never be the same.

The whole way there Gabriel looked down.

Not even out of the window,not at me,not in front. Just down at his shoes.

I felt so bad..I know I shouldn't have taken it out on him and there's no excuse for that.

But personally I thought we were growing to become close.

Things like that are more than important and I should have known about it one way or another.

I grabbed the blindfold from his hands and tied it around my eyes.

"I apologize for taking my anger out on you. I had no right to do that" I said.

"It's alright. I understand. I felt the same way when I found out. But I promise you,if there's anything that I can do to help just let me know" he said.

I nodded and thought for a while.

"Is there somewhere we can talk in private? Somewhere where my family will know where I am but won't come looking for me? We have a lot to talk about and I don't want anymore surprises like today happening ever again. If I'm going to be with all of you I need to know completely what I'm getting myself into" I said.

"Yes,I know of a few places. I can tell your dad that we need to train,which we will since you couldn't get away from those men today. No offense,I'm just saying you need to know how to protect yourself without a weapon as well" he said.

I nodded and the car stopped.

He got out and came over to my side and let me out as well.

We walked as before and once we were inside he took off the blindfold.

My whole family was sitting there on the couches looking worried,then I just felt angry all over again.

"Dad,brothers,can I speak to all of you in the kitchen please" I said,walking up the stairs.

They followed me as Lyla and mom stayed sitting down looking at eachother.

Once we were all upstairs and the door was shut I sat down and tried my best to control my anger.

"Can any of you please tell me why you wanted me to be apart of this insane lifestyle? If I would have known you take peoples family and put them into the trunk a of cars I would have said no! What is this and what are you doing here?" I said.

They all looked at eachother then sat down in front of me.

"Camilla..I didn't want you to find out this way. We tried to keep you away from it as much as possible but I guess things just happen for a reason. I run one of the biggest companies in this city and it stretches all over the world. A lot of people don't like what I do and they try to stop me. I don't know how you found out about those people but if it was Gabriel-"

"It wasn't him. It was the son of one of the family's. You don't see the pain you're causing to these people? Or do you just not care dad?" I said.

Dad looked down and took off his glasses.

"Honey,listen. It's not that I don't care. It's the type of job that I do and I cannot let anyone get in the way of it or everyone who works for me in every single place that it reaches to will be hurt,out of jobs and will probably loose their lives. The people who we put in the trunks are perfectly fine and they knew the plan before we did any of that. Yes,the have family that misses them terribly. But if they didn't tell those family members what was going on,it was for a reason" he said.

Now it all makes sense.

I knew my family couldn't be so heartless,and I felt terrible for thinking that they were.

I sighed and took dads hand.

"I understand dad and I deeply apologize to all of you for thinking it was something that it's not. So what are we going to do?" I said.

"We're going to give him what he's looking for".
