Just for Tonight

Chapter.Four

Ramsey walked in feebly. He had tried not taking his medications for days now. He didn't want to be held by it anymore. He hoped his sister won't find out about it.

He sat quickly as he heard her footsteps on the stairs.

He turned towards her direction and smiled."Are you leaving so soon already?. I thought you didn't want to go to work again."

Marietta twitched her lips. She knew he was teasing her by those words."Ramsey,I got no time for your mumblings this morning. Make sure you take good care of yourself. I will be back sooner, alright?."

"Take care big Sis." He smiled and waved at her.

Grabbing her bag on the couch,she ran off. She hoped her reason for her day off would count in that man's ears. She just hoped.

"Hi,my name is Annie Gadson and Mrs Williams told me so much about you."She smiled brightly.

Delson sighed deeply. Could his mum be more mean than this?. He thought he had made himself clear.

"And she told you it was appropriate to come meet me at home at this hour?."

Annie let out a little laugh."Sure. It's still the early hours of the day. When did you expect me to come?."

Delson wanted to talk when Lydia walked in with a tray of juice and cookies.

"Enjoy your day, ma'am."Lydia smiled.

Annie nodded and munched up a cookie in no time. His mum wasn't so wrong this time. He sure had some crankiness in his attitude.

"So what do you want me to do for you?."

Annie stared at him as if she didn't seem hear that question well. What could a lady be possibly doing in a man's house at this hour?.

Was he really asking her that?.

"I should be asking you that not the other way round because it seems you need help."

Delson scoffed loudly. What on Earth did his mother tell her to act this way?.

"No,I don't and I never recalled telling anyone I did. Let's get straight to the point. If it's for marriage,I am sorry but I can't. I am not interested."

Could this guy be more blunt on words than she could ever imagined? No guy had ever rejected her. How could he?.

"I can understand. You don't need to be the one to marry me. Let me marry you instead...since you don't have that luxury to.

At least,I can get the Media off your neck with that."

Delson sat up straight. It would be way better if he gave her a piece of his mind.

"Annie or whatever your name is,I am not pleading to be with anyone or never and I don't care what my mum has fed you with but I am not interested and that's final. Besides,I have a fiancee already. Count Yourself lucky for being the first person I am opening up to about this."

Annie dropped the glass of juice she held. Could he be saying that to chase her away?

"Don't tell me...."

He got up in a sudden."Miss Annie, i need to be at the office now. Thank you for coming all the way here. Have a good day."

Delson forced a smile and walked in.

There was Lydia waiting for him.

"You lied,right?."She asked.

"Of course,I wanted her off my neck. I just hate what mum is doing. I am 30 and not a teenager."

"All the more why she is even worried. Well,the Gadsons are visiting tonight so find a way to make that lie a truth."

"Tonight?!. No one told me about that."

"Your mum wants to speak with them and you must be a part of them."

"Big Mum,is there not any other way out of this?."

"The only way is making that lie a reality because I can't seem to think of how the Gadsons would view us and Remember that your father will never take that lightly with you. Think about it and find a way."

She placed the towel on his bed and walked out.

Delson screamed inwardly. Why does everything seemed so complicated?.

"Drop me off here. I need to get something to eat."

The car halted and Daniel got off and walked into the eatery before him.

There was a lady in smiles welcoming him already.

"What would you like to have,Sir?." Marietta asked.

"Just get me chicken sauce and a chilled fruit juice in a package."

"Alright. I will back in a jiffy."

His phone beeped and he picked it.

📞Delson?. What's wrong?.. You sound...

📞I need someone to act as my fiancee tonight. You got anyone in mind?.

Daniel stifled a laugh. He was sure Mrs Williams trick worked out.

📞How much am I getting at that?

📞Dan,could you be any more serious about this?.

📞Deal or no deal?.

He could hear the loud sigh of frustration.

📞 Daniel...

📞Should I cut the conversation then?.

📞 Alright..Deal.

📞That's my Billionaire. When will the meeting commence?

📞8PM tonight and she should be here before then.

📞 Alright then. Just make sure my pay ring after this call or else expect nothing and face your consequence.

He laughed.

📞I will deal with you after this.

The conversation ended. Marietta puts the package before him.

"Can you excuse me for a minute?.I need someone to hire for a job tonight and the pay is 60 million USD. Anyone in mind?."

Marietta's insides trembled. Could this be an answer to her desperate prayers?.

"Sir,what kind of a job is that?. I can do it."

If it's to save her parents and brother,she could do just anything except for stealing and other wrong stuffs.

Staring at her since he had walked in,he knew she would be the perfect candidate for Delson. He hoped she just agreed.

"It's to act as my friend's fiancee just for tonight."

Marietta moved back a bit. A fiancee?. Isnt that too extreme?."I am sorry but I can't. I don't want to have anything to do with such stuffs."

What does she mean by that?.Daniel thought.

"I could increase the pay if that's what you want."

"I can't. You should look for another."

"This is my card. You can call when you change your mind."He dropped the card,dropped his pay and walked off with his pack.
