Chapter 7 Accusal

1524 Words
She slowly raised her head and her light brown orbs met with a pair of deep black ones, Black enough to scare a person to death. She froze in shock. That voice? That voice? She had heard it somewhere. She scrunched her eyebrows as she kept staring into his eyes, wondering where she had heard his voice. It sounded so familiar. It was definitely a voice she couldn't forget and not to talk of his face. He could use his face alone to earn trillions in the span of a few seconds. Those pairs of black orbs also struck a chord in her head and Anna tilted her head in utter confusion. Has she seen this God before? "Get out! If you are only going to stand there gawking at me," She heard him hiss coldly, making her snap out of her daze. Just then, she remembered who he was. Who didn't know the boss of Wayne's corporation, Alasdair Wayne? Although he rarely appeared on the news, his population couldn't be rivaled. "I'm so sorry. I apologize for my mistake," Anna immediately bowed as she didn't dare to stare into his eyes again. Those pairs of orbs seemed like they wanted to pierce deep into her soul and look into it. "Sit and let go of my daughter," Alasdair hissed out coldly. For the first time in years, he felt really uncomfortable seeing this Brown eyed beauty holding his daughter. It wasn't like the normal parent instinct that a parent had when their kid was in danger, this feeling was much more intense, it was that of anger, unhappiness and sulkiness? Anna stood frozen in shock when she heard his hateful tone. Was she dressed so poorly that he detested the idea of her holding his daughter? Tears threatened to spill out of her eyes but she immediately forced them back and put on a small smile as she released Amelia's hands. "Father!" Amelia's tiny voice cut the tension between the two. Alasdair turned to his daughter who had the look of 'why the hell did you do that?'. For the first time, he almost glared at his daughter and Alasdair was beginning to doubt If he was in his right mind. With perplexity in his gaze, he properly took in Anna's features, studying her from head to toe. Although she was dressed so poorly, he could see the beauty in her and he was flabbergasted. Trailing his eyes down her figure wrapped in those poor clothes, he felt his throat hitch. Alasdair had never been a womanizer but he had had his own fair share of women. He had seen all races of beauties but he had never laid his eyes on someone as beautiful as the petite woman standing before him, poorly dressed clothes. Despite that, she looked beautiful in it but this was something he was definitely not going to say in this lifetime. By the side, Amelia had a tiny and devilish smile on her face as she watched her father gawk at the auntie she had come to like. Wires began connecting in her head as she stared at the two adults who were lost in each other's gazes. As Alasdair trailed his eyes back up to Anna's face, he noticed the tiny smirk on her lip and he realized what just happened. His veins bulged as his ears grew red from embarrassment. Minutes ago, he had only been scolding her not to gawk at him and now, he was doing the same. He pursed his lips and faked a cough, replacing the embarrassed look on his face with a glare. "Sit," he ordered, pointing his chin at the luxurious chair opposite him. Anna immediately took her seat. Few seconds ago, she didn't know what came over her but she had the urge to smirk when she noticed that the Greek god was checking her out. "I believe you are here for the interview of my P.A right?" Alasdair questioned as he pulled open the drawer compartment in his table, his gaze focused on whatever paper he was holding. "Err…" Anna was confused. The job she saw on the flier was definitely different from what she was hearing now. Was there a mix up with the job vacancies? She thought to herself as she bit her bottom lip. She wasn't fully prepared for the interview of a P.A. She only came, fully prepared to get interviewed for the job of a nanny but the current situation was baffling. Amelia, who had been forgotten by the two adults, quietly moved towards her father as she furiously typed on the phone in her hands. "Father?" She quietly called out as she rubbed her tiny palms on her father's thigh. Alasdair turned to his daughter, he knew she only rubbed her palms on his thighs when she was nervous or when she had done something worth scolding. He frowned, wanting to tell her she should wait but knowing his daughter's attitude, he was aware she wouldn't have come to him if it wasn't so important. "Hm, what is it?" He asked softly and Anna was surprised. She couldn't believe that this was the same cold man who was about to throw her out of his office minutes ago. Surely, no matter how cold a person was, they'd surely have a soft spot for someone they loved. This was the same with Alasdair and despite the fact that Anna just met him, she knew he wasn't an easy man to get along with. "Errm…I may have made a few changes to the job vacancies," Amelia responded and immediately stuffed a piece of paper into his palm before scurrying out of his office as fast as she could, lest the devil explode. Alasdair watched his daughter scurry out and he frowned. He held the paper in his hand and turned to face Anna who was still dumbstruck. "Woman, you came here to apply for a job you know nothing about. Not only are you poor but also stupid," Alasdair thundered angrily. Anna gasped in disbelief. Tears brewed in her eyes as events of the past came back plaguing her mind. She fisted her hands, as she bit her lip- an action done to control her tears. She pulled open her bag and immediately brought out the flier she saw yesterday before slamming it on the table between them. "I hope this makes you wrong," she hissed, still sitting, refraining herself from glaring at Alasdair. Alasdair detested the idea of picking up the crumpled paper with his hand so he held its tip with his pen, taking in every word written on the flier. The more he read, the more his frown became prominent and the air became colder in the office. Without further ado, he pressed the intercom. "Hurl your sorry ass into my office," he seethed and immediately cut the connection. Few seconds later, Anna heard a series of footsteps and then, the single knock on the door before it was pushed open. It was the same man, secretary Paul, who directed Anna into the office that walked in. "Boss …how may I help you?" Secretary Paul stammered, wearing a fake smile as he stared at Alasdair. "Care to explain what this is?" Alasdair gave a fake smile and tilted his chin at the crumpled flier on his table. Sweat dripped down his secretary's forehead as he restrained himself from telling the truth. "Boss…about this, I don't understand what this is, " he lied, not daring to look into his boss's eyes anymore. "Oh really?" Alasdair smirked, danger laced in his tone. Anna's heart fluttered when she saw his devilish smirk, blood rushed into her head as her cheeks grew warm. She immediately patted her cheek, hoping it would go back to normal before anyone noticed it. "Yes.. boss. You only told me about the vacancy for the P.A job," Secretary Paul continued, hoping his lie would be bought by his boss. "Then, how the f*ck did this get here?" Alasdair hissed, his face now clouded with anger. Anna jolted in fear as she tried to reduce her presence while secretary's Paul's knees weakened. 'I'm sacrificing myself for those rascals!' Secretary Paul internally cried, lighting a candle for himself in his heart. "Are you deaf? If this flier landed in anybody else's hands, it would have been better but why her? Listen, woman, are you here to defraud me?" Alasdair yelled, turning to face Anna who appeared scared out of her wits as tears began streaming down her face. No! She couldn't hold them anymore! Ever since she had stepped into this office, she had gotten nothing but disrespect, disapproval, condemnation and hurtful words. Alasdair watched as she cried and he felt like his heart was being pricked. He moved his feet, wanting to go and console her but immediately stopped himself. Just then, he recalled Amelia's words before she ran out of his office. Immediately, he opened the piece of paper that had been stuffed into his hands and the more he read the words written on it, the more he grew angrier.
