Chapter 17: Zuma Rock & Snatchers.   Ammar's POV    "Mujhse dusti karoge? "    She said something but I heard no idea what it meant. Or maybe I heard her wrong.    So I gave her a questioning look.   " Will you be my friend? " She translated.    " ehn? "    " Its the name of this movie."    "Oh"   She sighed again.    "Its hard right?"   "What is hard?" I asked her.    "Getting to know each other" she answered    I just gave her a blank look.    "We are both having a hard time doing that"    Why does she always have to bring up serious topics. And make a serious face. It scares me.    "I know you want answers to your unasked questions. And I want to ask you a billion things too. But we are still not crossing limits. I won't give up but I also won't answer the questions until you ask them yourself. So I have another proposal that will make life easier for both of us" She said.    Alright. What now? This woman is very bold and blunt. She really does make me feel small sometimes.    "How about we become friends?" she said a little too excitedly.    I raised my brows at her.    It wasn't just the title of the movie after all.    "Like you know, friends ask about the well being of each other. They share their likes and dislikes. Go out and have fun together. They share secrets too sometimes..... Hmmm.. they laugh over nothing and uhmm ....Things like that" she listed with her fingers.    "So do you wanna be my friend"    Why is she trying so hard to make 'us' work ?    She could run her life and ignore me the way I do but this woman doesn't work like that. She's not fond of silence. I mean one time she spent two hours on the phone with Ammi. She calls Sakina and Safiya every weekend during their phone calls hours at school. And I know by now she knows most of their classmates and friends since I heard her talking to half of their classmates two weeks ago.    She huffed and I noticed that her hand has been hanging out for me to shake.    I nodded and shook her hand.    "Okay. Friends"    "Perfect" she squeaked.    Her phone buzzed and she picked it. She read the massage and laughed.    She started typing on her phone then stopped to look at me.   I wanted to know what she was laughing at but I couldn't ask. "You are dying to know who sent me the massage and why I laughed right?" She asked but I didn't even care to answer.    "Then try to be a good friend to me then maybe I would tell you things without you even asking. It a text from a very good and caring friend."   She stood up and walked away. Just when she reached the stair she turn around.   "Do you want me to bring your dinner for you or will you come down to eat?" She asked.   I shook my head.  "I will come down." I replied and she nodded.    She turned to leave but stopped again.   "And you know, to become good friends you have to trust the person right? " She flashed me her famous smile and walked down the stairs.    Arrghh. What's with this woman?    Good friend? And who was she chatting with?    Ooh. I will show her what being a good friend means.    *   The weekend ended and Monday came along. It was her first day at Zuma Rock hospital so I drove her to paediatric department.   "I will come and pick you when I'm done. So wait for me. Text me when you're done. Okay?"    She nodded with a thank you and got off the car.   I drove to my parking space and headed to medicine department before going to Surgery because I had some business there.    My duty was all in accident and emergency section so I was so busy that I didn't notice it was 4pm and my shift for the day was almost over.    I checked my phone when I finally got the chance and saw that I had a massage so I read it.    'I am done. Waiting for you.' -Hafsat.    'Can you find your way to surgery department? Ask people around for directions' -Ammar.    'I'm not good with directions' - Hafsat.    'Okay wait for me. I will soon be done.' -Ammar.    With that I rounded up for the day and signed my attendance, a creepy rule that the new HOD enforced,  before going to pick her.    "Salam.....good afternoon" she greeted as she sat in the car.    "Wa'alaiki salam. How was your first day?" I asked as I drove off.    "Alhamdulillah..not bad. Just that I had to introduce myself to literally everyone. I don't thing I've ever said my name so much in my life." She pouted.    It made me chuckle.    "Did you laugh?" She asked while pointing at me with a smile.    "No I didn't" I answered trying to cover the smile on my face.    "I think you did" she laughed. "It's just that you've never laughed because of me."    There she goes again. Ruining the normal atmosphere.    We both didn't utter a word the rest of the drive home. But since she just can't stand peace and quiet she turned on the car radio and hummed to the songs they played.    _   Hafsat's POV    I went to visit my parents last weekend and as planned Rabia and Amina showed up. Amina came with two news. First her husband has been transferred to another state so they will be moving there soon and second, she announced that she was pregnant and we helped her rejoice.    It was then that I realized we've been married for two months. Two months!. I guess I still have a long way to go. Seeing my cousins made me feel relief.    Since Ammar and I worked at different departments and get off work at different times, we decided to go to work separately and try to be 'friends' after work.    Last night we had a movie night in our sitting room. We watched divergent together and I slept half way through insurgent.    He is really becoming a good friend.......that keeps his distance and says a total of 5 to 8 sentences per day.    We are good roommates.   I've started noticing alot of things about him. How he walks, eats, laughs. Even the way he dresses and things he doesn't like.    "Dr.Hafsat?"    A colleague called me.    "Huh?"    "We are on the same team. We are going to pedritric cardiothoracic surgery today. We have rounds with two cardiosurgeons and a pediatrician. " he informed me.   "But isn't that under surgery in paediatric surgery unit (PSU)." I ask.    "Yes but we are in paediatrics department and alot of our patients have to be co-managed with surgery department." He explained.   "Okay. Lets go." I nodded.    We were on our way to the pediatric surgery ward when they started talking about the cardiosurgeons.    "I heard that we will be having rounds with the surgeons." one of the girls in front of us asked.    "Really?" The one beside me and the doctor that informed me about the rounds earlier questioned.    "Yes. Because we keep having clashes in the prescribed drugs and stuffs. They even said we might need to consult a pharmacist." Our chief house officer informed us.   "Wow. It's that serious?" I asked and she nodded.  "But we only have rounds with the surgeons now right.?"    "Yes. Dr Hafsat. Their HOs, regs and SRs. "   "OMG. I heard they are so handsome. That all the doctors in Cardiosurgery are the most good looking in the whole of Surgery department."    "You've never met them right? You too Hafsa?" Another colleague nudged me as she asked. Its kinda hard to remember everyone's name.   "Dr. Naseer and Dr. Ammar are going to be with us today." She said dreamily and that totally got my attention.    "Dr. Ammar?" I tried to confirm.    "Yes. Dr. Ammar Hussain." She answered.   "Stay off girls..Dr. Ammar is all mine."    I snapped my head to see who was talking.    How dare she?   I totally recognise her. She's doctor Maimuna.    "Hey let's share him"   Okay, what's with these girls?   "Hey stop he's mine." Dr. Anisa shouted.    "Shut up. You're married." Dr Maimuna warned her.    Seriously people?    "I prefer Dr. Naseer thou. He's friendly and charming"    Who is this girl? How can she think he's better than Ammar.?    Wait. What am I thinking?    I've lost it.   They better be joking thou.
