Esther hadn’t expected to fall asleep, but she found herself being woken by the early morning light. She remained still, taking in her surroundings, her gaze scanning Malachi’s features. He’d turned towards her in his sleep, his lips slowly curving into a smile. Obviously, his dreams tended to be better than hers. As she watched, his eyes slowly opened.
He blinked twice before his smile fully formed. “Morning.”
