Miko couldn't believe everything they told her , she thought it was some sick joke until she called Zyla's mom to confirm the news 

A Few Hours Ago

" It's Zyla " Zach said " Okay what about her is she okay ?" Miko asks " Jaheim showed up at her house drunk and started tripping on her she called me and I over heard him telling her that if he couldn't have her no one could I was on my way over there and when I got there it was blood everywhere " He sniffled 

" it look like two people got into a huge fight only difference is he walked out with a few scratches and Zyla looks like someone beat her with a metal bat " " Stop playing " Miko said waving him off " he's not playing sis " Troy said " Mama G would have called me if something like this happen " Miko said in a tone 

" CALL HER PHONE AND I GUARANTEE HER MOM WILL ANSWER IT ! MY GIRL IN THE HOSPITAL WITH BLACK AND BLUE BRUISES ALL OVER HER BODY THE DOCTORS NOT SURE IF SHE GONE MAKE IT AND HERE YOU ARE SITTING HERE THINKING ITS A GAME !" Zach shouted , Angelo stepped in front of her " I get that your mad but what the f**k you not gone do is continue to raise ya voice at her like I won't f**k you up " 

Zach sighed " My bad " Miko ran upstairs frantically looking for her phone , she didn't even notice the tears falling out her eyes at that point all she wanted was for Zyla to answer the phone . Picking up Angelo's phone she pressed the home screen and it immediately unlocked , dialing Zyla's number is rung a few times before her mother answered 

" Hello ?" She said in a questioning tone " Mama G it's Miko where is Zyla ?" " She's here at Kaiser baby it's not looking to good " Mama G said through sniffles " Please tell me your joking " Miko pleaded through the phone but as Mama G got to explaining everything Miko wore no emotion on her face, everything went into slow motion and Miko's heart broke. 

" He gone get his I promise just please wake up I don't know what ima do with out my bestfriend " she cried " who gone sing with me when I'm feeling down ? I don't got friends like that and I only trust you Zy you gotta wake up remember your my maid of honor if I get married and we suppose ride together no matter what and here you are on the brink of death because of him , who else ima bug at 4 in the morning when I can't sleep or go on drives with , I need you to wake up please who else gone be my kids god mother or help me check bitches on the daily " 

Miko held onto her hand and cried silently with her head on the bed , she had made her up mind that she wouldn't leave her side until she woke up , she needed her bestfriend and she knew if she woke up she would need her too..

" You don't wanna go home ? " Mama G asks " No " she says coldly " I wanna be here when she wakes up " Mama G sighed " The doctors say she might have amnesia when she wakes up " " f**k what they saying I know my bestfriend gone be okay " Mama G smiled , she kissed her babygirl on the forehead " Mama loves you and I love you too Mik " 

" I'll be back with some clothes and food later on , get some rest Miko your mom will be here in the morning " Mama G said rubbing her back . Mama G refused to let anyone see the pain her heart felt even though it's written all over her face she couldn't breakdown like she wanted too. 

Her only child is laying in the hospital bed all because of man and she had no control over it but she knew someone who could find him and deliver the same beat down that her daughter received. 

2:19 AM

Angelo laid on the floor in his living room with a bottle of Jack Daniels in one hand and a blunt in the other , memories of his deceased brother flooded his mind after hearing the news about Zyla , he too had a similar situation but his ex girlfriend killed him with a bullet to the dome. Angelo never understood why she would do that but Love is powerful drug.

Angelo was only sixteen when it happened and he never understood why but as an adult he realized love makes people do crazy things even if that means harming the ones you actually love. His phone had been ringing off the hook but he refused to answer it , he sat up throwing the phone against the wall and laid back down, he didn't wanna be bothered .

Miko sat in her car blowing smoke to ease the pain her heart is feeling at the moment , Angelo wasn't picking up the phone and neither was Troy and she didn't wanna leave Zyla but she needed a shoulder to cry on. 

A knock came through on her window startling her for a second, rolling the window down she spoke " Mommy " she said lowly " I'm here baby " her mother said , Miko opened the car door falling into her mothers arms with tears pouring out her eyes.

Mila held her daughter and rubbed her back as she cried , just the thought of her daughter losing her bestfriend hurt her because she knew all to well what that felt like. " Come on Baby I need you to be strong okay ?" Mila said " She gone be alright munchkin but I need you to be strong for her have you prayed ?" Miko shook her head no " Come on we gone pray right here right now " 

" Dear Heavenly Father we come to you as your faithful servants and I ask you to cover my daughters bestfriend with your blood to heal her mind and body lord Jesus I ask that you bring her back from this and to keep her moving forward for she did not deserve this lord , we may not be perfect lord Jesus but we come to you in the name of the Father Son and Holy Ghost lord Jesus in Jesus name I pray Amen " 

" Thank you Mama " Miko says sniffling " No problem baby now go check on Angelo something doesn't feel right " Mila said rubbing her back " Yes Mama "

3:07 AM

Miko banged on Angelo's door numerous times but she got no answer , she didn't need this right now but she couldn't help but stand here , remembering the spare key under the mat she grabbed it and unlocked the door to see him lying on the floor with gospel playing in the background and tears in his eyes

" What's wrong ? " she asks " Why are you here ?" He asks coldly " I'm coming to check on you since you didn't answer your phone " she sat down next to him " Who's this ?" She asks holding the broken picture frame " my brother " he said snatching it from her, Miko looked at him as if he had lost his mind but she refrained from cursing him out , there was clearly something wrong and she planned to find out.

" Talk to me " she said " Can you leave ?" " No now talk to me I've got a million and one things on my mind and right now I don't have the energy to fight with you " She said folding her arms , Angelo sighed heavily " When I was 16 my brother was killed by his ex girlfriend she didn't want him to move on so she shot him and herself and just hearing that Zyla's ex did that to her brought back some unwanted memories " 

" I'm sorry that happened to your brother " she said wiping the tears from her eyes , Angelo looked her in the eyes and he could sense all the hurt she's feeling ,she had tear stains on her cheek and circles around her eyes , he pulled her down onto his chest and she just silently cried " Why her ?" She asks 

" I don't know " was all he could say " I can't loose her " she cried " I don't know what I would do if she died " " don't talk like that baby girl just have faith that she'll be just fine " Angelo said running his hands through her hair " Here " he said passing her the blunt " You need this " 

Miko took it from him taking a long drag from it inhaling the smoke , she sat up exhaling the smoke " Where's your phone ?" She asks " Broke " he said dryly " I chucked it against the wall and if I knew it was you calling I would have answered instead " Miko laughed " there my girl goes " he smiled " finish that so we can head back up to this hospital I know you didn't wanna leave her but I thank you for coming " he said kissing her forehead

" My Mama told me something didn't feel right and that I needed to check up on you and I'm glad I did or else you would have drunk yourself into a coma " she said shaking the two empty bottle of Jack " How are you not drunk ?" She asks " High alcohol tolerance but I am slightly tipsy so I might fall asleep on the way there " he admitted 

Miko snuggled up against Angelo's chest as she watched Zyla lay there peacefully, she looked at her injuries and sighed , her perfect face now had a black eye a busted lip and a ring cut on her cheek , her arms bore purple bruises and she had a 2 broken ribs.

Zyla's monitor began beeping and her heart rate started declining Miko jumped up in panic going outside the room " NURSE HER HEART RATE IS DROPPING ! " she yelled , doctors and nurses filled her room " We need you guys to step outside now "

Angelo held onto Miko as she cried , her bestfriend heart was giving out and she didn't know what to do, she called Mama G but got no answer so she sent out a text to Zach , Troy , Her mama and mama G.

9:00 AM

6 hours had gone by and they still awaited the news of Zyla's health condition, they sat in a prayer circle and prayed for hours . Mama G and Mila knew God had a plan so they didn't question why Zyla's heart rate dropped but she couldn't help but wonder what did she do for him to punish her child .

" The family of Zyla Brown " " That's us I'm her mother " Mama G spoke " Well she's doing better now she had nightmare that caused her heart rate to drop drastically and if her friend over here wasn't here to notice it we could have lost her " He explained " She should wake up in a few hours but I must warn you she might have slight amnesia "

" Well I'm praying she don't " Mama G said " Thank you doctor ?" " Hill " she smiled " Thank you Dr. Hill " " No problem you guys take care now " was all he said before walking off . 

" Thank god " Mama G said " Don't thank him just yet " Miko said coldly " Look who's at the nurses desk " everyone's eyes landed on Jaheim, Zach clenched his jaw " What the f**k is he doing here ?!" He shouted catching his attention " I put him on a ban list don't worry " Mama G said grabbing his hand " By this time tomorrow he'll be a goner " 

" WHAT DO YOU MEAN I CANT SEE HER ?!" Jaheim shouted " Sir your on a ban list " the nurse explained , Jaheim regretted hurting Zyla and he was here to fix it , he didn't know Zach was on the phone the entire time nor did he know everyone knew he did it " Mama -" Grace cut him off 

SMACK!

She smacked him " don't you dare ! I know you did this to my baby and I promise on my life that I'll end yours for trying to end hers " " I'm sor-" Zach cut him off with a punch to the mouth " You ain't sorry !" He shouted , Angelo and Troy held him back " This isn't the place for that Zach beat his ass outside " Angelo said 

" I suggest you leave before we let him go " Troy said " If I see you in the streets I promise you gone regret even being born don't let us catch you slipping " 

Miko spit in his face " Don't ever speak on my bestfriend again don't even dream about her and if you call her I will find you and kill you " Miko walked off into Zyla's room and pulled the chair next to her bed and sat down , " wake up Zy we need you " Miko felt a hand on hers , looking up she seen a smiling Zyla looking at her 

" Maid Of honor huh ?" She said barley above a whisper " THANK GOD !" Miko shouted " I could never leave y'all bestfriend besides y'all wouldn't know what to do with out me " she said smiling 

The door swung open " I heard shoutin- MY BABY !" Mama g rushed over to Zyla " Ma " " Oh my baby we thought we lost you " she cried " I'm still here but can I have some water Ima a little parched " Miko handed her the cup , Zach , Troy , Angelo and Mila walked through the door to see Zyla wide awake.

Zach stared at her " I'm ugly don't look at me " Zyla said covering her face , he moved closer removing her hands " Your still the most beautiful woman I've ever seen " He said kissing her lips " Don't you ever think otherwise "
