Big place out in the middle of nowhere, fallen into disrepair from what Braden could see. “You think anyone lives here?” he asked. “Doesn’t look like it,” Leon replied. “Maybe the house is just as haunted as the phone.” “Maybe it’s even more haunted than the phone.” Leon parked at the side of the road. Just in case anyone was living there, he didn’t want to chance waking them. The house was recessed into the property. Closer to the road, there was a fairly expansive pond. Pointing to it, Braden said, “It’s bigger than I thought.” “Still,” Leon replied, “hardly a lake.” “Well, it’s a body of water, at any rate.” “That it is.” Braden grabbed the antique phone from the backseat.
