CHAPTER 6:
A DANGEROUS JOB
One evening before nightfall, Melanie went in a bar, which was already full – people were drinking and having fun. She asked the bartender:
“Hi. Is Jason working tonight?”
“Jason?”
“Yeah – Jason Hawkins. He works here, right?”
“Oh, yeah, Jason… No, not for about four month now.”
“Four months?!”
“Yeah, he was not bad, you know – he knew the job, he was skilled, but he didn’t wanna work. So, the manager had to let him go.” Melanie could not believe that, she got out of the bar, went to her car nearby and said quietly, but upset (to herself):
“I knew you were bullshitting me, Jason, I just knew it!”
She drove about 10 miles and stopped 200 feet away from a house. She saw a BMW parked in front and said:
