2. Gone girl

1404 Words
Georgia I looked up to see the most handsome guy I’ve ever laid eyes on. I couldn’t tear my gaze away from his dark eyes and gorgeous face. I could feel his hard chest beneath my back and the arms that held me bulged with muscle. As I made no effort to right myself he placed me gently on my feet, chuckling to himself. “If you wanted a introduction, you only needed to ask. I’m Brad.” He held out his hand to greet me. “G.. Geo.” I stammered heart beating erratically in my chest. I took a step back to compose myself as I even the smell of him made me weak at the knees. I must have backed into Max, knocking his drink as I heard him curse and Marissa shriek. “Look what you did you stupid girl. See Max that’s why they shouldn’t let just anyone in.” I clenched my fist in anger and turned to Max. “Sorry Max. Let me buy you another.” “It’s on me.” The handsome stranger offered, I suddenly clocked the American accent I had missed the first time I was too busy oogling him. I smiled in thanks. Seeing Patty on the dance floor I decided this was my chance to escape. As I went to move those strong arms stopped me. “Woah there short stuff. You owe me a dance.” Here I was thinking I owed him nothing, maybe a drink at most but I found I had lost my ability to speak. I silently nodded and followed him onto the dance floor. As it tuned out he was a pretty good dancer and before I knew it one song had turned into many. I realised I had lost sight of Patty. Excusing myself from the dance floor I saw Max at the bar again. “Hey I’ve lost Patty. Did you see her ?” He pointed over to the booth we had previously been in where she was sat in some hot guys lap. As I went to move, I felt an hand on my arm, squeezing tightly. “Listen you little skank. Stay away from Max.” Marissa hissed in my ear, her sharp nails digging into my arm, drawing blood as I pulled away. “Don’t touch me.” I hissed back. “I’ve no interest in Max, so keep you hands to yourself.” Marching over to Patty I rubbed my arm. The witch had actually drawn blood. I sat down beside Patty, who was gazing adoringly at the guy. Almost drooling at his accent. Another American. The guy I had been dancing with had disappeared. I suddenly felt weary. I had to work in the morning. It looked like Patty was out for the long haul. Finally getting her attention. “Patty I need sleep, are you okay?” “He is staying here so I’m good.” She winked. I try never to leave her with strange guys, but her brother was here and at least she won’t have get home alone. I contemplated going to say bye to Max but I could see Marissa glaring at me across the room so I just headed for the exit. Even though it’s summer there was a chill to the air as I walk briskly to the apartment I shared with Patty. She would have insisted on me getting a taxi but it’s just an expense I can avoid and I love the fresh air. Eventually I got home and I threw myself into bed. I closed my eyes and smiled when my dancing partners handsome face comes into view. I wished I could remember his name but I had been too busy staring to take it in. Brad I had been watching the dark haired beauty from the moment she walked into my bar. Well my Dad’s bar really but that was just semantics. I on my way to buy her a drink then I saw her talking to the handsome guy at the bar. Typical English public schoolboy, the type my Dad fawns over then his very typical girlfriend appeared, glaring at the raven haired beauty, who seemed non plussed about the situation. She didn’t seem too impressed by my knight in shining armour act, but agreed to dance anyway. I didn’t usually dance with girls, I was the type that girls typically threw themselves at. I was usually found in a booth with a hot girl or two on my lap. Yet there I was dancing while trying to find any excuse to hold this random girl, who literally just wandered of to the bar and never returned. I searched the club to no avail. Grabbing a drink from the bar I headed to a booth where I saw Josh making out with a hot blonde. I detoured upstairs to check out the CCTV. I wasn’t usually a stalker but I needed to see if she had left. Following her last moments I saw her leave. Slamming my empty glass in the table it shattered. Then I had a thought, she was speaking to Josh’s girl, all I had to do was get him to invite them back tomorrow night. That shouldn’t be too easy a task, Josh was a sucker for a British accent and a the girl did look pretty hot. I got out my phone to message Josh as he and the girl had disappeared, I saw I had a message from my Dad. “Give me a call son. I have some news.” Over my dead body was I calling him. He was trying to get me to meet his new girlfriend. Granted he had kept this one around a bit longer than the previous couple. It had taken him a grand total of weeks to start dating after my Mum died. His soulmate was barely cold in the ground before he was jetting of on holiday with Gabrielle. Each girlfriend getting younger than the one before. The last one had even hit on me before I managed to get rid of her. This one hasn’t actually been too bad for me, she had kept Dad entertained and out of my hair for a while. I tried to remember her name but after the first couple I stopped trying. This one would be another money grabbing w****, just like the others. Which made it pretty easy to get rid of them. They got greedy. Don’t get me wrong I’m not a compete d***, I didn’t want my Dad miserable I just wished he would find someone suitable. I was dreading finishing up collage next year, it would be expected I start to take over the business, which would make it harder to avoid Dad. I found it a bit sad at first, he had been my hero for most of my life. Then Mum got sick and he was useless, and then just moved on like she had never been the most important part of his life. They had been childhood sweethearts, proper romantics growing up, the kind of relationship I expected to have. Then she died. I was a teenager at the time, I f***** my way through grief. Yeah I had the odd casual relationship where you slept with them more than once but the minute they got too clingy they were gone. I’d say most were after me for my money, or my dads money really but I knew I was good looking and certainly knew my way around the bedroom department. Turning of my phone I better get back down before we closed or it would be a booty call for me tonight. I noticed a familiar figure at the bar. Endless legs in a short red dress it would only be my ex Kim. Could I call her my ex? I didn’t believe we had been in a relationship, but she clearly did and she was hard to get rid of. However if you could ignore the possessive steak she had she was pretty good in bed. We had known each other since high school and she was a fairly successful model now. My Dad hated her which was probably the main reason I kept seeing her. However I had suggested to her last month that she should look elsewhere I wasn’t looking for a relationship.
