I had stood silent as her words had floored me.
“What do you mean it’s not my baby?” But even as I said the words out loud it all made sense. The wrong dates, the early scan, how pregnant she looked.
“I’m sorry. I thought it was yours until they changed the date.” She said her lip quivering.
I didn’t believe her.
“Who’s is it? In fact it’s irrelevant.” I struggled to look her at. “Why didn’t you say when you knew?”
“I wanted it to be yours. I was sure they were wrong.”
“How do I knew you aren’t lying? Just so I stop pressing you to keep him.” I didn’t disguise the loathing for her in my voice, but see down I knew she wasn’t lying about that.”
“Why would I lie ?”
