Patty was surprised to see me when I got home.
“Did you guys have a fight?” She asked, causing me to stop in shock.
“You knew?” I asked
“That Brad was that guy ? Yes, do you think I’m the sort of friend that doesn’t pay attention to who you are with.”
“Why didn’t you say?”
“I would have but then you found out who his Dad was and, understandably freaked out. I knew you would tell me when you were ready.”
I cringed at her knowing, and also at the thought that I clearly hadn’t been discrete.
“Well it’s over so shall we just never mention it again?” I heard my voice catch slightly.
“Oh baby girl, what did he do? You know you can talk to me when you want.” She pulled me in for a hug.
“He didn’t actually do much, it was just never going to work. I’m fine, I’m fine.”
