Nick backed up and sat on the pile of duffels. Something was wrong, really wrong. Todd looked horrible, worried and scared. For a minute Nick thought maybe he was still under the effects of the kelbit. When Todd avoided looking at him and started to pace, Nick’s gut twisted. “Todd, what’s wrong?” “Look, Nicky, I know I should have talked to you first, explained things, but I didn’t have time. I needed to make a decision, and I did.” “Todd, what are you talking about?” Todd reached into his inner jacket pocket, pulled out a thick envelope, and handed it to Nick.
