A huff escapes me as I slowly gain consciousness. I could have sworn that I only just closed my eyes. So, why am I awake now? Frowning, I roll onto my side and tug my blanket up toward my chin. Ugh. It took me forever to fall asleep. Maybe if I will myself hard enough, I’ll fall right back to sleep. I bury my face in my pillow, breathing in deeply at the fresh crispness that this cooler part of the pillow has. My movements still when warm breath hits my ear. “I do hope that you’re not planning on fall back to sleep,” a familiar deep voice purrs. “I worked very hard on bringing you here, it would be quite rude if you slept through your entire visit."
