Crystal pov

After half an hour the care finally made it through the gate to the house that I will now call my home, I looked at it through the window as we made it to the entrance, this place may not be as huge as the Stone mansion, but still, it is still just too big for me. I began to miss my small cosy home that was enough for just me and my dad. It was painted white on the outside, the garden had beautiful flowers, the lawn well kept, it was just screaming wealth, and that scared me. The car came to a stop and I made it out with my luggage in hand. When I opened the door, I was just surprised by how beautiful it looked, ‘Raven’s lover sure has good taste’ I couldn’t help but think that when I looked at the interior of the house, it was classy, modern but with a taste of culture. I looked at Mrs Jones “Kate sure has good taste, I can see why Raven fell for her”, I said trying to hide my jealousy, but honestly, she deserves the compliment. But Mrs Jones just looked at me with a cold face, “what good taste, I decorated this house but then she just went and took the credit for it, and since Raven is blinded by her, he believed she did all the work.” She said looking angry, so much so that it terrified me a bit. “right you are Jones, after all, he is a man, he will believe anything that I say” we turned around when we heard a malicious voice behind us, only to find Kate leaning by the door. “you must be the new wife, I was told that you will be living here with us” she said with a smirk as she came and stood before me. “what are you still doing here, like you said raven is married, you should at least have some sense of shame” Mrs jones was fuming, just by looking at her, her pale face now red. “chill Jones, this is my home, so I will be living here, didn’t this missy tell you? She did agree to it after all” she said with a little laugh, which did nothing to hide the evil in it. Mrs Jones looked at me for confirmation, but I just faced the floor in shame, and just like that, she walked away from us.

I was about to chase after her but Kate pulled me back. “listen her Hun, this is my house, and just like the contract, you have no power. here, you are nothing but a servant. But I like this arrangement, the wife serving the mistress, it’s going to be fun” she said cheerfully, putting her hand on my cheek lovingly, to a third person, it would look like she was happy with me, not insulting me. I didn’t want to even talk to her so I turned to leave, I had to find Mrs Jones and apologize, but she had to be a b***h and stand in front of me blocking my path. “what’s the hurry, we are not done. From what I can see about you, you seem to love Raven, after all, the old hag will not take just any girl. But my question is, why choose such a low girl? In my experience, from just the way you are dressed, I can tell that you will be nothing but an embarrassment to Raven” she said with her cute evil smile. I just couldn’t take it any longer, I hate that she thinks she has power over me. “look here Kate, I don’t want to fight with you, he loves you, so I just don’t get why you are so worried, or are you afraid that he will realize that you are with him just for his money and he will fall for another, ending in you losing the money you have secured or him destroying you, for which you know he can” I asked her on my own vicious yet challenging smile. For a moment, she looked pale but quickly recovered and smiled at me. “You are smart wifey, but just stay out of my way, or there will be trouble. Or how about I just give you a demonstration right now?” she said with a smile, but it sent chills down my spine. While trying to figure out what she meant, a slap landed on my face, she looked at me smiling. I was not going to take it, so I returned one of my own and blood came from the corner of her lips, and just like an angry growl come from behind me. I turned to find a very terrifying Raven standing there.

“what did you just do, didn’t I warm you, how dare you come into my house to hit my woman” and just like that, he gave me a slap that send me falling to the floor then he went and hugged Kate. I finally understood it, she must have seen that Raven was on the way, so she set me up. I looked at them, the now pitiful and crying Kate, and having the man I love hugging another woman. Tears burned my eyes but I blinked them back and stood up, I have to be strong in order to face this. I stood tall, “I will not take her disrespect Raven. I may not hold any place in your heart, but I am your wife, despite the contract. I will not attack any one unless they attack me.” I told him seriously and he charged at me, ready to punch me, but I blocked it. You see, thanks to that promise, I trained damn hard in order to stand by his side proudly, help him in cases of crisis, and to handle anything that’s gets thrown my way. So holding him in a fight may be hard, but not impossible, besides, he used to teach me how to fight back then and I memorised his fighting style. He looked at me in shock, he couldn’t believe that I just stopped his fist. “don’t fight me Raven, it’s shameful for a man to hit a woman, and I won’t take it” I let go off his hand then left the both of them stunned. I may be here because I love him and to uphold our promise, but I will not take any disrespect, I don’t care whether he remembers me or not, he will respect me one way or another.

I went up the stairs looking for Mrs Jones, she looked so disappointed in me, but I still need to explain my situation to her. I kept walking but there was no one in sight, I can’t find a person if I don’t even know the layout of this house, I thought I will at least find someone who will tell me where I can find her at least. I began walking across the hall way, I had lost hope of finding her, this house is just to huge. When I was about to turn and give up, I saw a girl, around ten, come out of one of the rooms. “hey little girl” I waved and shouted to catch her attention. When she finally looked at me, I gestured her to come and she did, though it looked like she didn’t want to. “I’m sorry to bother you, my name is Crystal and I’m looking for Mrs Jones, I lost her somewhere” I gave her my best smile and she seemed to relax. “but how did you lose grandma auntie?” she asked placing her hands on her hips. “well, she is angry with me, so she left me, and I have been looking for her.” I told her while crouching down do I can be at the same height as her, “so will you help me so I can apologize?” I pouted at her and she laughed. “only babies make that face. If she is angry, she must be in the kitchen or in the garden, those are her favourite places to relax.” She smiled at me and began to pull me forward. “come, I will take you there” and so we left, making our way down stairs to the kitchen. “so you live her as well?” I asked her, we were playing a game she calls ‘truth or double truth’. Apparently, it’s a good way to get to learn more about someone, you ask a question and they must reply honestly. “yes aunty, my parents work her, my mom is a maid and my dad one of the drivers, so I got to live here” she said smiling while clinging to my arm. “ok next question, why are you here, its during school hours, don’t you attend school?” I was curious about this, does she just live here and help with the cleaning, she should be in school. She jumped happily which surprised me. “of course I attend school aunty, uncle Raven took all the kids to school, there are five of us living here, and I am the youngest and the only girl” she said happily, her face bright as she spoke about Raven. “so why are you not in school?” I looked at her and smiled but her face fell a bit. “well, aunty Kate said I can’t go for the next week because she is angry with me” she sighed and I felt my anger rise. “why would she say that?” I couldn’t control the chill in my voice. “it’s not a big deal aunty. It was my fault, I had used too much salt while helping with breakfast so she got mad, but it’s only a week and I will go back” she said with determination

I was about to ask her a question but she cut me off. “hey look, we are here and grandma seems to be angry cooking, you are on your own now aunty. Uncle is lucky to have you” and just like that she took off, and I never even asked for her name. I shrugged then made my way to a very angry old woman who was chopping carrots like they did something to her. I walked slowly towards her and stood right in front of her. I looked at her, but she just ignored me and carried on like there was no one else there. I waited for a couple of minutes to gain a bit more of courage. I raise my hand to touch her, and just like that she began her yelling. “what were you thinking agreeing to all of this Crystal? To top it off, you lied to everyone, you said he remembered you, but it turns out that he does not. couldn’t you just tell him who you were? From how he looks at you, to him, you are not even significant enough to be dirt under his shoes. Why would you sign that contract?” she said all this in one breath, leaving her breathing heavily. “I agreed because I love him and I don’t want him to just be with me because he promised me, I want to get his love for me back, and help to protect him. I agreed to that contract because it was the only way to be with the one who saved me and my family form death, so come what may, I will stay here until I repay him whether he loves me or not. But if by some luck I get to repay him, I will leave this place if he wants me to, and only stay when he wants me to, but only if his reason will be for love. I told her firmly but with a smile and her eyes just widened. “so you have your mind set on this nonsense?” she looked at me and I just nodded. “ok, I will support you and help keep this a secret. But you should know, he is going to make your life difficult, so be careful” I immediately hugged her. “you should listen to her, this won’t be a merry-go-round” a sinister voice came from behind me. I let go of her then turned only to be met with Raven’s evil smile. We stared at each other, he just laughed then left us there. I knew it right then; things are not going to be well for me.
