He opened a drawer and produced a box of Player's cigarettes. He nodded towards a chair and pushed the cigarettes towards Callaghan. 'Nice suit, Slim,' he said cheerfully. 'Yes,' said Callaghan. 'I'm lookin' a bit dressy today, I know. I wish I felt like it.' 'What's wrong?' asked Gringall. 'Mind you,' he went on, 'you know you don't have to talk about the Riverton business. You and I are on opposite sides of the fence, but you're much too old a hand for me to have to tell you that you've only got to say what you want me to hear. I'm not asking for anything.'
