We're on the ground, we're screaming
I don't know how to make it stop
I love it, I hate it, and I can't take it
But I keep on coming back to you

"Hey you..." Fiona bounced up to Paul right as the boy stepped out of chemistry class. She had been waiting at the classroom door for him to step out.
"Hey Fiona.....Well if you don't look extra hot today......." Paul said smiling in a flirty manner. Fiona merely shrugged brushing off the compliment just like she always did.
"Hey can we talk?" She asked going straight to the point. She quickly glanced down the hallway to make sure her brother wasn't in sight. Harris had warned her about being 'friendly' with any of his friends. He knew their playboy nature and wanted his sister near none of them. Being the protective big brother, he was.
And by 'friendly' he meant 'if I see you in a 30 mile radius of any of them I'm telling dad about your mysterious bank account balance', so Fiona was very cautious.
"Aren't you supposed to be not seen with me," Paul raised his brows. "Not that I mind though..." He winked pulling his lips in between his teeth in a seductive manner and took a flirty stance against the wall. He always did that when having a conversation with Fiona.
"Paul please stop you are being a creep." Fiona snorted adjusting her bag pack.
Paul squished his lips into a pout and pulled a genuinely sad face. Fiona might be joking every time but it always hurt him.
"Okay then, what do you wanna talk about." He sighed massaging his forehead.
Fiona took a deep breath and glanced one more time at the crowd flowing around them before speaking,
"This might sound strange and I'm not even sure of myself but.... Have you realized how weird Harris has been acting?" She asked with an unsure look.
"Stipulate weird..." Paul demanded not sure what the hot girl before him was asking.
Fiona once again shrugged pulling her lips into a pout,
"I'm not exactly sure though but he's been acting like something is up with him, he's been really weird. I mean...really."
By that Paul got a hint of what Fiona might be asking. Might she be asking the same thing he had witnessed on Monday? Paul wasn't sure whether to let Fiona know he's had his suspicions too, he wasn't even sure whether his suspicions were suspicious enough to be labeled as suspicions.
"Ermm...you might wanna give me a bit more Intel on that." Paul suggested wanting to know what Fiona knew. Moreover what he might be insinuating wouldn't be what she might be talking about.
Fiona puffed out a breath in a sigh making her lips vibrate. Explaining Harris' actions were going to be difficult. The boy himself was difficult.
"Well, uhh he claims he's sick every time he wakes up from sleep, he zones out alot ...way too much. And he gets really flustered when I mention Lesley. I was beginning to think of something but then I thought no, Harris is way too hardheaded to experience that."
On the mention of Lesley, Paul knew their suspicions were both on the same page. He slowly nodded at Fiona's words realizing how they corresponded with his. What he had stumbled upon in the washroom Monday afternoon was enough to light up all suspicions he was already having. He knew if Fiona had seen that too she would understand too.
"Well.... If I said I haven't noticed your brother acting weird I'd be lying," Paul nodded clicking his tongue. "I've had my suspicions."
"Great! This is great!," Fiona exclaimed. "It means something is really up between those two right?" She asked all revved up and beaming with giddiness. Finally someone was also watching from her perspective.
Paul smiled at how little things always seemed to make Fiona happy. This was what made it really hard for him to just act normal around her. Really hard.
In as much as he always appeared flirty and be the casanova that he was, deep down he knew there was more to that when it came to Fiona.
"So what do you think? I want us to find out what's happening between those two and see how we could help out in any way. What do you think?" She bounced.
Paul smiled and nodded. In all honesty he was thinking the same thing. If Harris and Lesley didn't know what was happening to them they were going to let them know. And after all, most importantly, anything for Fiona.
"We should cook something up...you know, like a trap." Paul squinted his eyes mischievously.
Fiona laughed getting really excited about their deviancy.
"And before they know it......bam! We know it too." He narrowed his eyes like he was performing in a play.
Fiona burst out laughing, "oh my god I love the idea already. Whatever its going to be." She giggled.
Paul laughed along with her seeing how happy she was. Being with Fiona and not getting attracted to her was impossible. How had he managed to pretend all those years?
"While you guys are enjoying your romantic talk and having a really good time just know Harris is 1 minute 23 seconds way from here." Rashford said as he walked by them smirking. Fiona's eyes swelled into the sizes of Indonesian buffet trays.
"Oh s**t! oh s**t! oh s**t!......bye Paul!!, will call you later!" She shot up running down the hallway in the opposite direction of where Rashford had just come from. If Harris saw her talking to Paul she was screwed. Big time.
Paul watched her bounce her way down the hall disappearing into the cafeteria not long before Harris joined him.
Harris had light bags under his eyes making him look like he had been loosing sleep. His looked really distressed and quiet distracted.
"Yo Harris ....." Paul said with the confusion which was oozing out his tone make it sound like a question. He was surprised to see Harris look like that. A few days ago the boy was just fine.
"What the hell happened to you man..?" Paul asked still giving him a confused look.
Harris merely shrugged and leaned on the wall beside Paul.
"Dont shrug at me.." Paul pointed out. "yo come on, talk to me." He demanded.
Harris shrugged again, "and tell you what exactly.." He replied cynically. He scoffed and leaned his head unto the wall.
"For starters you tell me why you look like s**t. What's up? What's going on?"
Harris snorted at Paul's seriousness. "you really think I'd know that?" He chuckled without humor. "I spend nights trying to figure it out too man..."
Harris sighed and run his fingers through his hair staring at the cement floor absent mindedly.
Paul silently watched his friend. He studied how tortured and distressed Harris had become over the few days. He was going through something, something Paul wasn't really sure. But then if he had an idea he might as well try the best he could to see if that could help in any way. He knew how confused he'd be in Harris shoes if that were to happen to him, whatever it was.
"You know what I'm just gonna head into literature. See you around...." And with that Harris kicked himself of the wall and sauntered away from Paul. He continued to unconsciously run his fingers through his hair and down his face as he walked down the hallway to his locker. Paul stood there watching him when an idea clicked like a light bulb right over his head. He smiled mischievously and quickly pulled out his phone to send Fiona a text.
Paul: what did the past seniors say was always the answer to every situation?
Paul grinned satisfyingly at the text he had just sent. In a matter of seconds Fiona hit back with a reply.
Fiona: Party :)
So after school, both 'missionaries' met at Paul's house to put their plan into in full force. They had only three hours to throw an iconic party so they sat in his room to make last minute party plans and a list of relevant items needed. Paul carefully scrutinized the list he had just made satisfyingly.
"Bottled Water?" He asked.
"Check." Fiona replied.
"Pizza?"
"We'll order."
"Fries?"
"Check."
"Beer?"
"Check."
"Coke?"
"Check."
"The other coke?"
"Check."
"Joints?"
"Check."
"Lean?"
"Check."
"Xans?"
"Check."
"Woofers?"
"Check."
"DJ?"
"Double check?"
"Invitations?"
"Triple check. I just finished spamming everyone's school email." She grinned deviantly.
"Alright then," Paul grinned. "Its about time we set the place up. My job is to get your brother here and your job," he pointed at her. " ....Is to make sure that rich headed dipshit gets here."
Fiona laughed at Paul using the nickname Harris had attributed to Lesley.
"Its actually fun how awkward Harris acts around Lesley though." Fiona smiled. "....like as if finally someone can make him vulnerable. Its kinda sweet." She giggled.
"Well.." Paul started, "we all have our weaknesses dont we? And some of them we aren't even aware of until it creeps up on us slowly and slowly overtime till it becomes a disease with no cure....." He trailed of dryly looking down at his sheets.
"You sound like you're reading from a poetry book guhhh!" Fiona jested standing up and grabbing her bag. "Please don't be sappy, that makes you really unpaul like." She snickered.
Paul slowly nodded smiling without emotion. "You're right." He sighed getting up to walk her out.
"Just make sure you get his dark haired ass here on time okay?" He asked making Fiona giggle.
"Now that's the Paul I know." She winked and bounced her way out of the door. Paul stood behind watching her drive away with so much yearning and need. Well, If only.........
Sigh.
Getting Lesley to come for a party wasn't easy. Hell it was proving to be impossible. Since Fiona knew where he lived, she had quickly driven to his house before the boy made it back after practice.
Fiona had parked her car horizontally before their gates denying Lesley access to get in. Lesley who didn't know what Fiona wanted from him since the girl and him barely ever exchanged more than 5 words with each other got out of his car and threw her a really confused look.
Fiona had quickly cooked up a lie about the coach wanting to meet all teammates back at Paul's house. Lesley knowing she was lying had stated flatly he knew she was lying and went ahead to ask her what she really wanted.
So now Fiona stood there with her lip between her teeth trying to think of a way to tell him the truth without making him reject the idea. Lesley didn't seem to be the guy who loved parties. The permanent straight face he always carried said it all. Moreover he barely talked to anyone which meant he definitely would hate a crowd of teenagers drinking booze and dancing unrhythmically to trash music which nobody knows how but have found their way unto the billboard charts. No shade meant. No shade....
"Well?...." Lesley sighed still looking at Fiona for an answer. On his way from practice his only wish was to get home and have a really nice bath before downing his dinner then take a long ass nap before actually going to bed.
Now looking at the distraction before him, his plans were as good as dead. Lesley knew he could just turn back and take the hidden back gate of the house but then, the striking resemblance of Fiona to Harris was overwhelming. He couldn't quiet pull himself away, as sadistic as that sounded. But then he just couldn't. Fiona also seemed to be enjoying the privilege of vulnerability Lesley had under Harris. And to Lesley that was quiet saddening if it were to be a 'mere infatuation' he was feeling for her brother.
"Listen.." Fiona began whiles pursing her lip and taking one long ass deep breath, "I know you're going to say no to whatever I'm about to say okay...but please give it a thought." She looked at him hopefully before spilling,
"We are throwing a party tonight and we want you to be....."
"No."
"Come on!" Fiona exclaimed. "Its just a one night party it wouldn't hurt." She threw her hands up in disbelief.
Lesley shrugged.
"Really?....." She asked in disappointment.
Lesley shrugged once again.
"You're just gonna not say anything?" She raised her brows in question.
The boy shrugged again.
"Oh my god you're going to drive me crazy....." She deadpanned. What had made her think convincing Lesley was going to be a simple task. No wonder he was driving her brother crazy.
"Harris is going to be there..." Fiona pipped up hoping that would change his mind. It had to.
"And is that supposed to change anything...?" Lesley raised his brows and leaned against his car. He folded his arms and stared at Fiona daringly with a smirk.
"You dick.." Fiona hissed and grunted in frustration. She realized now why he and Harris were always at each others throats. Lesley definitely deserved those punches.
If Lesley was going to adamantly refuse to attend the party then she had to make him aware of something. Something Fiona had realized he was denying. It was sad to see Lesley hiding it perfectly when right on the surface of his heart Fiona knew he was feeling it. The same feeling that was killing her brother.
Why didn't these two blockheads just sit down and look each other in the eye and acknowledge each others damn feelings for once?
Fiona was surprised they were actually intelligent to be at the top of their classes but not enough to recognize damn feelings. Simple damn feelings.
"You know what .....fine." She threw her hands up in surrender. " I give up."
Lesley unfolded his arms and sighed gesturing to where Fiona had parked her car,
"Do you mind?" He asked with a bored tone.
Fiona groaned in frustration on how her quest had been impossible. Right then she had a text from Paul asking if everything was good. She was about to type back how a failure their idea had turned out to be when an idea hit her hard.
Fiona: Call me. And play along :)
Fiona lifted her head up from her phone and feigned a confused look which in turn made Lesley raise his brows in concern.
"Oh my god no!" Fiona screamed worriedly beginning to shake. Lesley kicked himself off the car appearing genuinely worried.
Fiona began fanning herself like she was hyperventilating. She puffed series of breaths out of her mouth. She heaved her chest to ragged breaths like she was having the panic attack of her life.
"Hey what's wrong?...." Lesley asked striding slowly towards her.
"Its Harris..." She stammered up with her eyes beginning to soil with tears.
At the mention of Harris, Lesley's eyes widened with concern and alert.
"What about about him?" He demanded getting worried, "what about him Fiona......." Lesley began to breath in haphazard patterns.
Gotcha.
Just then Paul's call came in and Fiona quickly clicked the answer button with quivering hands.
"What happened Paul!, tell me!" Fiona exclaimed with teary eyes into the phone. Lesley had his eyes on her expectantly not being able to wait it out. The suspense was killing him.
"Okay Fiona I dont know what s**t you've gotten yourself into and I also dont know what you're screaming for me to tell you but the party has began in full force and your brother is up in my room messing with my Xbox 360." Paul replied.
"What!!?" Fiona screeched. "When did it happen?" She sobbed beginning to shiver all over.
"Damn b***h keep that tone down..." Paul snickered from the phone.
Lesley was panicking now. He had his deep brown eyes fixated on Fiona and his heart beating really fast against his ribcage. This didn't sound right to him. Harris seemingly had been involved in something which was making his sister tear up like Lesley had never seen before.
And the scare and fear and dread that something might have happened to Harris was tearing him apart.
"But I was just with him a few hours ago in school......" Fiona wailed sliding down to her knees with tears running down her cheeks.
"Yes baby we both were. Now can you get any condoms on your way back? I've budgeted with the box I bought last week."
"How bad are the injuries...." Fiona stammered while sniffling and wiping her eyes making her mascara extra ruined.
"Damn girl you're good.." Paul complimented her.
"Fiona....." Lesley muttered almost out of breath, " Tell. Me."
"I'll be there in a minute....." She sniffed and ended the call before looking up at Lesley with a glare.
"See what you've caused you asshole!" She screeched standing up.
"If I wasn't wasting my time here trying to convince you I could have been with my brother and he wouldn't have gotten hit by a goddamn truck!!!" She screamed.
Lesley's jaw slacked.
Cheers to drama club
"I hope you're happy you dipshitty… moody… straight-faced asshole." She shouted.
Fiona wouldn't have insulted him like that, but the boy had made this little task really hard for her so she thought well, why not. He kinda deserved it.
Lesley stood still not being able to move. Harris got hit by a truck?!
He paced restlessly running his fingers through his hair and trying to catch a breath. Never had he felt so scared in his life. Harris was injured...
"Where did it happen?" He asked with a shaky breath.
Fiona swallowed and wiped her eyes again still crying though.
"In front of Paul's house." She sniffed. "They are waiting for an ambulance."
Lesley quickly drew his keys out of his pocket with shaky hands,
"Please get in the car, I'm driving..." He said and quickly opened the passenger door for Fiona.
Fiona wobbly made her way to his car and took a seat sniffling all the way. As Lesley hurriedly rounded the car to take his seat, Fiona grinned mischievously.
She quickly put on her horrified face when Lesley sat down beside her.
The boy swallowed the bile in his throat and revved his engine to life.
"Please put on your seat belt........."
