Chapter 3 The Eerie Voice

692 Words
Chapter 3 The Eerie Voice Since that stormy night when Bu Fan accidentally opened the yellowed ancient book - "The Record of Yin-Yang Spiritual Adjustment" on the dusty bookshelf of the old house, his life has quietly been covered by a mysterious veil. This book is said to be a secret treasure passed down from ancestors. It records the ancient method of communicating with the yin and yang realms and can only be seen by those with a predestined relationship. Bu Fan, a young man full of curiosity about the unknown world but also a bit timid, at that moment, seemed to be gently pushed by the hand of fate into the unknown abyss. At first, Bu Fan only regarded the contents of the book as topics for conversation after meals or fantasies for self-comfort in the dead of night. However, as time passed, those obscure words seemed to gradually take root in his heart. Until one day, those strange scenes that only existed in ancient books quietly descended into his real life. It was a dark and windy night. Bu Fan was sitting alone in the small rented house. There was only a dim oil lamp in the room. The bean-sized flame was dancing on the wick, emitting a faint light. This dim light was swaying, stretching Bu Fan's shadow very long, making the whole room seem extremely lonely and deserted. Outside the window, there were occasionally bursts of eerie whispers. The sound was sometimes high and sometimes low, sometimes clearly audible and sometimes indistinct. This strange sound was as if the night wind was telling unknown secrets, or as if some mysterious existence was approaching. Just at this moment, a sudden inexplicable chill suddenly hit from behind, like a cold air current penetrating Bu Fan's body. He involuntarily shivered, and all the hairs on his body stood on end. He turned his head and tried to find the source of the chill, but there was nothing in front of him except darkness and silence. However, he could feel an invisible pressure pervading around him, making him feel an indescribable oppression and heaviness. Just when Bu Fan was about to get up and close the window tightly, a faint and clear female voice sounded in his ear: "Save me... I am sealed in this wall..." That voice was soft and plaintive, like the most distant star in the night sky, shining with a faint light in the silence. Bu Fan was stunned suddenly, and it seemed that all the blood in his body froze instantly. He widened his eyes and looked around in horror, but except for the cold and hard wall, there was no one in sight. He couldn't help but shiver, and a chill rose from his spine. "Who? Who is speaking?" Bu Fan's voice was trembling. He tried to keep himself calm, but the fear in his heart kept surging up like a tide. However, all that responded to him was dead silence. That voice seemed to disappear without a trace, leaving him alone shivering in the darkness. Bu Fan swallowed and stared nervously at the wall as if it would turn into a huge monster and pounce on him at any moment. "Could it be my hallucination?" Bu Fan thought to himself. But he knew in his heart that the voice he heard just now was too real to be a hallucination. He took a deep breath, slowly stood up, and carefully approached the wall. When he got close, a coolness hit his face, as if countless cold hands were touching his skin. Bu Fan's heart beat even more violently. He stretched out his hand and gently touched the wall, feeling its temperature and texture. Suddenly, he felt a slight vibration under his fingers, that voice sounded again: "Save me... I am sealed in this wall..." This time, the voice was clearer and more plaintive than before. Bu Fan was so scared that he quickly withdrew his hand and involuntarily backed away. He looked at the wall in horror, filled with doubts and fears. Why does this wall make such a sound? What secret is hidden inside?
