Chapter Five It was Monday and Cogent arrived promptly for his new job assignment at Jones Detective Agency in Metairie. It was a bit of a drive for him from New Orleans. He wouldn't move to Metairie, though. At least, not yet. Not until he got the Lydia Secrest case settled. He had to focus on the new job today. He couldn't let the Secrest case distract him, not on the first day anyway. He met with Court Dexter. Court was happy to see Cogent. Court knew he had an ace here. The detective agency was paying Cogent only a fraction of what he was worth. He didn't care. He really didn't need the money. It was good for his ego, and he needed something else to focus on now besides getting fired. And this was the line of work Cogent loved. Cogent felt a sense of relief that he wouldn't be running
