Chapter 3 Leg enthusiast. "Inconceivable? Can a portrait be so true to life?" someone expressed skepticism. "Absolutely, it can. Because this is the creation of the modern surrealist artist Mr. Leng Jun," said Gu Liu Xing. Everyone present was astounded by her words. "That's implausible!" the lady in the crimson gown promptly objected. "Look at the ebony plumes on his lapel; you can even discern the minuscule hairs on them. How can an oil painting accomplish that?" "Just because you can't achieve it doesn't mean others can't," Gu Liu Xing retorted at her, as if regarding an uninformed individual. "Mr. Leng's work is distinguished by its extraordinary realism and exquisitely intricate details. Not to mention the feathers on the attire, he can even depict the fibers of the clothing. Naturally, these specialized aspects aren't common knowledge, which is understandable. But once you meticulously inspect the material of this painting, whether it's canvas or photographic paper, it will become evident." The final sentence was directed at the onlookers. Upon learning that it was a masterpiece by Leng Jun, some people immediately grew curious and congregated. After all, any artwork by this master was worth millions, and many might never get the opportunity to see one in their lifetime. "Hey, it truly is canvas, not photographic paper. It's just that the canvas material is of high quality, and it's displayed behind glass, illuminated by the light, making it inconspicuous without a close examination," someone remarked. "Yes, indeed, it's truly a painter of national treasure caliber. This realism surpasses even a camera," others murmured in awe after a thorough examination. Even Gu Liu Xing's gaze shifted from doubt to admiration. "That's unthinkable!" the girl in the red dress refused to accept it. She locked eyes with a tall, short-haired individual who brashly elbowed their way through the crowd to verify for themselves. Upon confirming that it was indeed canvas and not photographic paper, the two nodded with ashen faces. Laughter erupted in the gathering. "You can't even differentiate such a fundamental material, yet you dare claim to have graduated from the photography department of the art academy. If this becomes known, people will mock you mercilessly." Upon hearing this, the girl in the crimson attire's countenance turned as crimson as a beetroot. Nonetheless, instead of admitting her blunder, she grew furious and glared at Gu Liu Xing. "So what if it's canvas? You're just a rural dweller. Haven't you heard of 3D printing? What material can't be replicated? Moreover, how can you be certain this is painted by Leng Jun? Does it bear his signature? Or have you witnessed it in person?" With each inquiry, she drew nearer to Gu Liu Xing. The bystanders steered clear of the elegantly dressed and domineering girl, and no one dared to advocate for fairness. Abruptly, the girl shoved Gu Liu Xing when she was off guard, and the tall girl seized the opportunity to trip Gu Liu Xing from behind. Gu Liu Xing did not anticipate them taking action in front of such a large audience. Caught off balance, she stumbled backward. The individuals who had been standing behind her to spectate the commotion were concerned about being swept up and rapidly retreated. Foreseeing an imminent and agonizing collision with the unyielding floor, Gu Liu Xing closed her eyes in dread. Yet, the anticipated pain failed to materialize as a strong hand caught her just in the nick of time.
