EIRA’S POV I heard the phone click and I froze, the words I had already rehearsed in my head were nowhere to be found. “Eira!” she beamed, relief in her tone. “Where have you been? One of our classmates said they saw you running out of Lucien’s palace. I’ve been meaning to call you, are you okay?” I opened my trembling lips as I clutched the phone tighter. “I’m...okay. I just wanted to hear your voice.” “You don’t sound fine though, are you sure everything is okay? Did something happen between you and the princes?” My throat tightened, and I could feel tears threatening to spill from my eyes again. “I...um, I’m leaving Mara.” The other end of the line was silent for a few seconds, before she finally spoke up. “You’re leaving? The campus? I don’t understand Eira, you’re scaring me.”
