MARA’S POV The first thing I noticed was blood. It was smeared across the marble floor in uneven streaks, dark and wet like it had been dragged along with something too fast. Students around me whispered, and they parted instinctively as two teachers rushed towards the injured boy. They lifted him up, and began to rush him towards the infirmary. I stood near one of the lockers, my back slipping from my shoulder before I could even notice.
