After a couple of hours the group of four arrived at the testing grounds. Each Academy had it's own base that had progidination stone which was used to measure talent.
“Terence, me and George are going to see your Aunty now. You and Yale should behave yourselves.” Without waiting for a reply the two men ran off towards the north of the city.
“Why are those two so friendly. I feel as if something is off....” Yale was puzzled. Ever since Oliver had shown himself, him and George had spent most of the time together chatting. It felt as if they had known each other for years.
“Ah forget it........ Yale that's my Auntie’s school over there let's go over. Come on let's go.” Terence dragged Yale by his arm toward a middle aged man who had a stern expression.
After seeing Terence come over the middle aged man’s expression turned soft. “Terence what are you doing here? It's not like you need to take this test, you know?”
“Hey Ben....... I'm here escorting my good friend here. Come lemme introduce you.” Terence pulled Yale to stand beside him. “ This is Yale. Yale this is Ben. He is my aunts right hand man.”
“It's nice to meet you senior.” Yale greeted Ben respectfully.
“Haha..... Good child! Come with me let's test your talent and elemental affinity.” Ben was pleased by Yale’s attitude. He immediately entered the tent behind him and gestured for Yale to follow.
After entering the tent Yale realized that there wasn't a lot of people. Ben noticed how Yale’s expression had changed and as if knowing what Yale was thinking he spoke. “ Our criteria is seriously high. Not anyone can join. So far in the last couple of days we've just gotten a little over 30 students. Whereas most academies have gotten several hundreds and even thousands.”
“Oh.....” Yales heart sank when he heard this. He was now scared that he won't be able to make it.
“Don't worry Yale Uncle Oliver has already gone to speak with Aunty, so even if your talent is low you might still be able to get it.” Terence had taken a real liking to Yale. He grew up with a strict father who barely allowed him to go out, so Yale was actually his first real friend.
Yale could only nod. But his heart skipped a beat when he saw that Ben had picked up a small jade like stone.
“Drop some blood on this stone here......” Ben said encouragingly.
Yale hesitated for a second, but then he strengthened his resolve and bit down on his finger. He dropped his blood onto the stone and watched as it sucked in the blood.
“This stone is just to test your elemental affinity. It'll take a minute or tw-......” in midsentence Ben had just suddenly stopped talking. He was staring at the stone in disbelief.
“you... You..... you have affinity for. Fire, thunder, darkness and earth. Your earth affinity is low but for the rest its all high.” Ben could not even believe the words that were coming out of his own mouth. It was already rare for someone to have an affinity with two elements, let alone 4.
“follow me quickly......” Ben immediately went towards the prodigidination stone.
“Same process drop your blood on this. How talented you are depends on how bright it glows.”
Yale didn't hesitate at all this time. He immediately dropped some of his blood on the stone. To everyone's surprise the stone did not glow after it took his blood. After a couple of seconds Ben was flabbergasted.
“This what's going o-...” but before he could even finish his sentence something extremely weird happened. The stone actually disintegrated into dust.
There were a couple of people in the tent. All of them at this moment were shocked into silence. They were staring at Yale as if they were staring at a monster.
“Bring me another prodigination stone now!” Ben suddenly shouted.
In a couple of seconds a new stone was brought and put in front of Yale. Ben spoke. “Drop some blood again.”
Yale did as he was told. And again the stone turned to dust. They tried again and again and again, but the result was still the same.
After trying for what felt like the millionth time, Ben finally spoke. “Terence is your uncle Oliver here?.”
Terence shook his head. “No him and George already went to see Aunty.”
“I don’t want to message your aunt at the moment. She will rush here and create a scene if I did that.”
Ben stared at Yale for a while with his expression one of confusion. “Hmmmm..... Yale, Terence, the two of you come with me. We are heading out towards the Academy."
...
“so this is the Azure Dragon Academy. It's so big.” When Ben took Yale and Terence to the Academy he immediately left them to do as they pleased. The reason was because the minute he arrived he was immediately called over by an angry Lina.
“Actually, this is the smallest Academy in the whole Ruby City. Like its extremely small. We only have a little over 2000 students, whereas most academies have a hundred thousand plus students.” Terence had travelled to this City before, so he knew most information about the city.
“Yale, schools in this city are actually considered small. Next to this Ruby City there is a City called Blue Frost. Blue frost city is at least 4 or 5 times bigger than Ruby City.......” Terence intentionally stopped his explanation just to see how Yale had reacted, and he wasn't disappointed. Yale had almost stopped breathing. 4 or 5 times bigger. This was just unbelievable to him.
Terence laughed and continued. “ That's still nothing. Our kingdom is called the Moon Ridge Kingdom it covers a distance of at least two hundred thousand kilometres. We are at least fifty thousand kilometres away from the capital. I went there last year and believe it or not its way, way, waaaaay bigger than Blue Frost City. In total there are about 30 cities in our kingdom. And we are in the second smallest city, the smallest being the Red Ram city. Which is where we live.”
“Wait so you're saying that this is small. Are you being serious. Now I wish I could go to the capital.” Yale was already day dreaming about the Capital. He was eager to see just how big it really was. He had an image in his mind, but little did he know that his picture would be torn apart.
“Don't worry in about 4 years if we are powerful enough we will be able to go.” Terence said confidently.
“4 years!? What makes you so confident to say that.” Yale was caught off guard by Terence’s statement. What was so special about that year.
“Every 20 years the kingdom has a competition between schools. Each city has to bring 10 of its most powerful students. The schools in the City will hold a competition of their own. But we don't have to participate, we are just going straight to the Capital.”
Yale was confused. “Why aren't we going to participate? We might not even be powerful enough by then. I don't even know how powerful I have to be to be able to participate.”
Terence smiled and spoke. “Yale my auntie Said that with my talent I will be able to participate if I work hard. I'm not too sure what happened with the prodigination stone but common sense is telling me that to you're more talented than I am. So I think we'll be able to go.”
“To be honest from mortal to Duke we need about 3 years. And that's us only reaching the 8th grade in that level. Anyway.... Let's go to the Market and buy some food, I'm seriously hungry.”
While Yale and Terence were out talking and looking for food, Oliver was not as happy as the two teens.
At the moment he was standing between his wife and his old friend. “the both of you please calm down. It's all in the past now...... Can we please move on to more pleasant things now. Like how we slaughtered our way through those devil wolves. Those were the da-....ah!”
Before he could even finish his sentence he was already screaming in pain after being kicked by George.
“In the past my ass. She almost killed our Young Master and yet you married her what bullshit is this.” To say that George was pissed was an understatement. He hated Lina from the bottom of his heart.
“I had a job to do then. I was hired. All I could do was accept. That's what we assassins do....” Lina said this without emotion at all.
And after these words George was even more enraged. “it was just a job for you huh!??? So if someone paid you to kill Oliver you'd do it? And now that you know who our master is will you go try finish your job?”
Lina’s expression turned grim. “If I wanted to kill them both I would have done so a long time ago.”
George smirked and said. “you perfectly know that that time you were only more powerful than us because of numbers. You're no match for Oli and you are definitely not a match for me.”
After hearing what George said the room became silent. Ben had been here since he was called by Lina and he still had no idea why he was even called.
After a long period of silence Lina finally spoke. “I am no longer an assassin. I am married to Oli, his problems are mine as well. The master he serves is mine as well I do not plan to betray him. I won't say what I did before was wrong, and I won't apologise for it, but I can give you my word that it won't happen again.”
George only snorted and began to walk away. “Tell Yale that I'll be back in a couple of years. But under no circumstance are you allowed to tell him about who I am and how powerful I am....... Oli let's go find the rest.”
...
“That bastard!!!!” Lina could only swallow her at the moment. In past they out numbered George and his group that’s why she was confident when she accepted the job.
At that point in time a little over 200 assassins attacked with her, but in the end only about 90 survived. In they end they watched the group of people disappear. She knew perfectly well that if she were to act now she would just be flirting with death.
After a period of silence Ben spoke. “Lina...... Who was that!? He seems rather weak and yet he actually spoke to you in such a rude manner.”
Lina shook her head and then said. “ you remember the time he said that I'm no match for him?” Ben nodded, and Lina continued. “ he is right. The last time I fought with him I took over two hundred assassins to deal with their party of 23 people. Out of those 23 one was already seriously wounded so he just stood and watched the fight.
The remaining 22 people were all monsters. Leaving George aside, the other 21 killed 50 or so of my people. We had over two hundred people but only 90 were left. If 21 people killed 50, then how many do you think George killed? How powerful do you think he is?......”
Ben trembled when he heard this. He knew just how powerful Lina was, and how powerful their organisation was. But over 200 of them were almost annihilated. This information caused Ben to be afraid of George and Yale as well.
“Lina, what's the relationship between Yale and George.” Ben couldn't help but ask. Lina didn’t hesitate at all in answering. “ I’m sure you heard George calling him master. To be honest that kid is scarier than even George. For that proud prick to call him master means that his background isn't ordinary. As for where he comes from even I don't know, all I know is that they were fleeing from one of the higher realms........ Be as good to him as possible.”
Ben sighed. “ you don't have to worry. He's already good friends with Terence. Ah.... Lina this kid Yale is unbelievable!!” Ben had actually almost forgotten what he had come here to say to Lina. This was his first time experiencing something so shocking.
“The prodigination stone shattered the minute his blood touched it. Lina what does this mean?......”
Lina was beyond shocked. “what!!!! It shattered. Are you sure? Did you attempt with any other stones?” Ben nodded. “Yup, same result.”
Lina sunk into her chair. “Ben bring the two of them here..... And another thing, tell everyone in the school that this Yale is not someone they can offend. That being said I will personally teach both him and Terence.”
Ben was confused. “Lina what's going on here......”
Lina smiles bitterly. “ There are 17 Clans that cannot get their Talent tested. Why it's like this, no one knows. But each Clan does not have a single person who is less talented than those so called geniuses...... Now go get those two boys.”
After an hour or so Ben brought back the reluctant duo. At first he had thought that all he needed to do was tell them that Lina wanted to see them, and they'd immediately drop what they were doing and come with him, but who would've thought that the two didn't actually want to leave. So in the end he had to use a little bit of force.
“Aunty you are evil...!!... All that food. WHY!!!” to say that Terence’s performance deserved an Oscar would be an understatement. He had added tear and snot into the situation to make it all seem like he was genuinely hurt.
Both Ben and Yale were speechless. Even though Terence was reluctant to come, along the way he was smiling and happily conversing with Yale, but as soon as he reached his aunt he began crying.
“You little....” Lina couldn't even find the words to say to her nephew. She knew that she spoilt the child, but what else could do? Terence had no mother and his father was to busy to care, so In a way she was all Terence had.
“so you are Yale.....” Lina sized up Yale for a moment then turned her gaze away toward Ben. “please get their rooms ready. There are things I wish to discuss with them in private.”
Ben nodded and left. The room became dead silent after Ben left. Yale wasn't used to silence so it was rather awkward for him. And seeing how Lina was looking at him as if she could see everything about him made him feel naked.
Terence on the other hand was accustomed to this. Ever since he could remember his aunt was always by his side. He looked at the awkward Yale and gave him a pat on the back. “Don't worry you'll get used to it. She does this a lot. It's like she can see inside you right.”
Yale nodded. He looked back at Lina and spoke. “Excuse me ma’am. Might I ask if you know where George is?” Terence looked around and asked as well. “Uncle Oliver isn't here as well. Where did they go.”
When she heard George’s name her eyes had turned cold for a moment, but they soon returned to their normal calm.
She then sighed and spoke. “George and Oliver went out for some time. They could be back in a couple of years or so.... No need to worry about them.”
Yale got worried. “ But ma’am will George be ok? He's just a mortal after all.”
“George is no...... Ah!” she was about tell Yale how powerful George really was buy she then remembered his words, and she couldn’t help but tremble.
“No he will be fine. He's got Oli after all. There is nothing to worry about....... Anyway enough about them. Yale and Terence I am going to be your personal teacher. What do you guys think.”
