"I'm just a harmless dragon,"
That is what the thing said,
"And I have been here for many years
Living under your bed.
I wouldn't wake you up
And I don't want you upset.
If something is making noise
Maybe you should check the closet?"
So, my dog and I
Went to the closet.
I opened the door and said,
"Monster you must get!
You can't be here
With your jumps and leaps
Go find another closet
So I can get some sleep."
"I'm not a monster,
My Name is Harry
And as you can see
I am not scary.
The only reason I'm in your closet,"
the hairy thing said,
"Is because there is no room for me
Under your bed.
In here I was sleeping
Until I heard a THUNK.
I think that it came
From that big old trunk."
So, to the trunk
My dog and I went.
With so many things sleeping in my room
I should start charging rent.
We went to the trunk
Expecting a scare.
When I opened the lid
There was only a mouse in there.
I said "little mouse
I've had enough of your chirps and squeaks
You must go somewhere else
So I can get some sleep."
"I'm just a little mouse
I am nothing to fear
I haven't bothered you before
And I have been here all year.
But I did hear a noise
Something in the gloom
I don't know what it was
But it came from the next room."
Out the door
And down the hall, we ducked
Toward Mom & Dad's bedroom
My dog and I snuck.
We heard it in there
With its roars and growls.
It was trying to get Dad
I had to stop it now!
The monster was there
On Dad's side of the bed,
So I shot it with a dart gun
Then hit it on the head.
Now I'm back in my room,
Ordered to stay here until morning.
There was no monster in the house
Only Dad snoring.
