Raena stared directly into Kassian’s eyes, trying to keep a straight face. She had considered playing dumb again, but the way he looked at her told her that there was no going back now. Her pretending only worked if the other person believed in it, which was why fooling her brother was so easy. He was used to seeing his sister act childish or emotional, and just a few tears were enough to make him blind to any inconsistencies in her behavior.
