When Lola woke up the next day, her mind was left in disarray. In sleep, A strange, yet intriging dream appeared to her. One that she’s been having over and over again since she was five.
In the dream, she walked though and empty corridor within a castle, bigger than she’s ever seen before.
It was dark and the air was frigid. But to her right, there were 10 huge arches that showed the night sky, a forrest beneath it.
Goosebumps formed shelter on her olive skin, dazed and confused, she remembered being. Not sure if the chills were coming from the thick, cold air,, or from a fear of danger lurking in the shadows.
She walked and walked, through the stoned walls with a red carpet warming her naked feet. To lola, the catsle was a familiar place, yet unfamiliar at the same time. She know she’s been there before in her dreams. But each time, something felt off. Like something was out of place, but she could’t put her finger on on.
As if she was drawn to something. Like sailor with which allured by heavenly voices of a sirens humming ancient lullabies, daring them to come near. But Lola wasn’t sure if danger called on her. And even so, she couldn’t stop. She continued walking foward, her feet moving as if they weren’t her own, until she reached a grand door with an embroidered symbol hanging rustic metal door knob. On it was a wolf interwoven with shapes and forms, organized in a meticulous orchestrated way, all falling into perfect place.
Lola had sworn she’d seen it somewhere.
Taking the handle, she pulls it, but it’s closed shut. But then, she feels a cold, object on her chest. Looking down is a necklace, and on it was a floral embroidered key. She then took the key and entered it into the key hole, turing it until the the door opens on its own. Inside was a stood a huge oak tree, surround by a a small pond shimmering under the skylight.
The place was huge, like a place you’d only read in fairytails. Lola mouth was agape as she looked around, where the floor and walls were covered in vines, fallen leaves, and roses and dapholis that glowed against the moonlight.
Her legs continued moving on their own, itching to gain closer to the tree in haste. Lola steps into the fond, without a single care of getting herself wet, stomach deep in it’s glowing waters. Pulling her body up, she finally reached the tree. And with a closer look, she saw another symbol carved into the bark, but this time, It was a symbol of a clock instead of a wolf.
Like she was hypnotised, she slowly lifted her hand, and as she touched the mark, the tree began to glow. The light growing stronger and stronger, that it blined her until darkness was all there was left. Then, she woke up.
She sat up in bed, confusion evident of her features, It was always that same dream, over and over again. She wasn’t sure what it meant, but what Lola knew for sure was it must’ve meant something important.
Lola hopped into a warm shower, dowsing under the heat. It felt like she wash washing all of her worries down the drain. If only it were that simple. Throwing on a pair of jeans, a white, and beige sweater cardigan, she looks in the hallway mirror before heading out the door.
Walking to her car, she see her new neighbor standing on his lawn, staring at her with a grin. He waved to her, but who wouldn’t know a simple wave could freak someone out. It sure felt strange. She takes quick strides as if a loose tiger was right on her tale and hops into the car, driving to work.
The bookstore was less busier than the day before, not that Lola was complaining. She usually enjoyed it, to sneak away and read books waiting for her on display. She continued shelving and doing her job like she usually did. And after awhile, her shift ended as soon as it begin.
Lola says goodbye to Mrs. Peterson before heading out the door. She still had a bit more time on her hands, so she decided to stop by the pharmacy to pick a few things, the walking distance only being a street away. Inside the pharmacy, she walked around aimlessly, a ended up buying her pain medicine.
The whole time she was there, she felt… strange. Her hairs stood on her neck, a strange feeling indeed. Watched, she finally found the word. Like a ghost was following her every mood.
Lola said goodbye to the employee at the cashredgister before walking out of the store and towards her vehicle up the stree. As she reaches her car, the wind begin to pick up, and she loses her prescription notice as it flies in the air. Frantically, she chases it all the way to the back of a restaurant where fences surrounded her. It lied on the ground in the middle. BShe lets out a puff, blowing her hair away from her face and picks it up, dusting it off. Exhausted as is she took a mind run, Lola tilts her head, back and closes her eyes before she turns around.l And in front of her was a man. Jumping in shock, her feet tuble backwards. SHe’s nearly fallen to the ground. She looked at the man with her eyebrows, " is this your restaurant, "she asked man. he just looks at her silently with menacing eyes. Lola takes a few steps back, feeling a dangerous aura Pouring from his presence. but she didn't want to judge him too quickly. "if this is your restroom really apologize for intruding my doctor's note for a my prescription Got carried in wind and night came back here because this is where it landed, " she said oh, yeah he said nothing continuing to melt his fierce eyes until her very soul. it was then we'll only know that she was in in a compromising situation and that she needs to leave now. "I'll take my leave now, "she begins walking towards the men through the interested she walked in through hoping but he will let her pass by. But Tire bill his hands meet her shoulders stopping her. the next thing that occurred happened so fast, it took her a couple of seconds to register what was happening to her. He pushes her through with it since his teething eyes touring above her. is ragged breaths burn her cheek as healing closer to her ear, all the left was utter fear. "Where is the key? " he growled, as Lola became whimpering mess. her lips we're shaking she knew she was supposed to respond but she didn't know what, so with quivering breath she. just stood there. the man breaths out a long, breath as his hands began to squeeze her wrist, Making more whimpers fall from her lips. “Answer me!” Lola flinched hearing his voice raise. this is it she thought. one day she was going to be found bloodied with cuts in a sewer never to be seen again. With heaving breaths she she says “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” she was being honest about it, for she had no not the faintest clue of what this key thing he was speaking of. but she knew that no matter what she told him he would think otherwise especially when Is already seething eyes became dark, and the last so menacing at the Devil what's the end in press, begin erupting from his lips. “Slright. Lie away all you like. But when Gabriel gets his hands on you, you’d wish you never had those pretty lips to lie.” One of his hands travleved down her waist. “Don’t worry, I’ll tak you to him soon. He’s just so eagar to meet you, but until then,” his hands find her thigh, squeezing ot at she but her lip in disgust. He grabs her chin, lifing it to look at him, “I’d like to have some fun with you.” Lola, knees him in the groin, pushing him away as he stumbles back. She makes a run for the entrance with which she came in, and passing the corner, her body collides with someones chests. Her eyes finds the persons face, preparing herself to utter a quick apology, but then she recognizes the milky brown eyes under dark locks she’s grown accustomed to. “Woah woah woah, where you’re running off too,” Nicholas chuckled, but realizing the troubled look on her face, his lips frowned in distast. “Lola, are you okay? Did something happen?” he asked, and she clawed his arms frantly, pointing the area where it happened. “There’s-” she chokes out, “someone attacked me, over there. I-I got away but, i think there coming after me.”
“Lola, just calm down and breathe” his said in utter horror, and Lola let’s out haggard breaths, seeing him morph into anger. He walks pass her towards the area behind the restaurant, looking back at her he says“Stay right there, I’ll be right back,” before walking off. “Wait, don’t” she said following in his stread. SHe stood in the narrow allay, watching her friend from afar. “Please, he’s dangerous. Just come back,”
“Lola, we need to report whoever this man is to the police, I could catch him for you-”
