The alpha turned us around and pressed me to the door, holding onto my neck with one hand and supporting my back with the other, once I was against the door, he removed his hands so he could explore my body.
I broke the kiss and tried to push him far enough back so I could get down when he bellowed, “MINE!” and began his assault on my lips again.
Maze, you did this, undo it. I told her.
If I take control, he’s going to mark you before the night is over, was her tart reply.
Why did I have to get a wolf like you? I asked.
Because without me you wouldn’t have the nerve to face our mate, she said sweetly.
I tried to push the alpha off me again, except this time, he moved his hands back to supporting my body and moved us towards the bed.
“I can’t claim you yet, mate, but I will. By the end of the week, you’ll be mine,” he said.
“Why can’t you claim me?” I asked him…Hopefully he wouldn’t get a big head.
“Tracy, she’ll try to kill you if I claim you without talking to her,” he responded.
“Let her try,” Maze said as she took control, again. This wolf is gonna be the death of me, I swear!
“You’re that confident?” he asked.
“Absolutely,” she said. That one word sealed the deal. The alpha of alphas ripped off my shirt, literally, and marked me, just above my left breast. It wasn’t painful, in fact, it felt as if I was having an org*sm, it ignited something within me. Much too soon, it was over, and the alpha was excusing himself from my room. Looking down, I was bleeding from where he marked me, so I jumped into the shower while reprimanding Maze and her rash decision.
You liked it, Maze stated.
Maybe so, but now I’m a walking target, I told her.
You’ve hidden yourself for far too long, with the skills you have, you’ll be fine, Maze responded.
Once I finished my shower, I put on a pair of black sweatpants, a white tank top, tossed a zip up sweatshirt on over it, choosing to not zip it. A hard knock sounded on the door, I went to answer it, “Hey! It’s time for dinner,” Marnie told me. She immediately noticed the mark, and asked “You found your mate?”
“I did, but lets keep that between us,” I said as I zipped up my sweatshirt, hiding the mark.
“Sure, but so you know, you’ll eventually smell like him, and everyone will know who he is,” Marnie stated.
“I know, I want to keep him to myself a little longer,” I said, knowingly. We walked the short distance to the staircase, descended it, and continued to the mess hall.
“Holy crap,” I said as we entered the hall.
“Great, isn’t it?” Marnie asked.
“Uh, yeah! I can’t believe how big it is!” I gushed.
“It has to be big, if it wasn’t there’d be fights every day with all of us being alphas.”
“How often do fights happen here?”
“Expect at least one at every meal, mostly between the males. Females tend to fight with their words and that doesn’t happen since we set the pecking order, like over there, by Alpha Zayden, is Tracy, she’s the strongest female in the pack. She’s expected to be the next Luna,” Marnie explained.
“What about Alpha’s mate?” I asked.
“Tracy is his chosen mate, he hasn’t found his fated mate, yet. If he finds her before he marks Tracy, she’ll have to fight for him. If he finds her after Tracy is marked, she’ll have to kill Tracy for the honor of being his mate, or they’ll have to reject each other,” Marnie answered.
You haven’t killed anyone recently, wouldn’t it be fun to duel to the death with her, especially since we’re gifted? Maze asked.
No, why do you want to kill her so bad? I asked.
Because she’s touching our mate, talking to him, sitting next to him. “OH LOOK SEEMS A SHE-WOLF CAN’T FIND HER MATE AND HAS DECIDED TO MOVE IN ON SOMEONE ELSE’S MATE,” Maze took over…AGAIN. She’s going to kill me. Heads turned in our direction, and with finesse, Maze unzipped the sweatshirt, exposing the mark. She then decided to radiate my aura, which told every person in the room, who marked me. Yup… It’s great living with Maze as my wolf. NOT.
Maze looked to Tracy and said, “I am Maze, do you want to challenge me, or are you going to remove yourself from my mate?”
Several murmurs went through the room. Maze was the name of the Alpha Queen’s wolf over a thousand years ago. The wolf who created the Alpha pack, the wolf who, with her mate, killed the remaining vampires, and witches making Werewolves and humans the remaining beings in existence.
“He isn’t your mate,” Tracy spat.
“Oh, he isn’t? Well then I guess this mark appeared all on its own,” Maze said sarcastically, as she emanated her power, revealing her golden eyes, indicating she was ready for a fight.
“How could he be your mate, when he’s destined to be mine?” Tracy asked. There were whispers of agreement, amongst the wolves dining.
“If he’s destined to be yours, why haven’t you been marked?” Maze continued to ask quizzically.
“Waiting for the ball of course,” was the snap response.
“Mate, anything to say?” Maze asked with venom turning towards the Alpha. It was obvious that Zayden was uncomfortable with the situation, but nonetheless, he stood and said, “The Alpha Queen will be announced at the ball!” and he left the room. Maze wasn’t one to give up so easily, she quickly went after him.
“Leaving so soon?” Maze taunted once she saw his retreating figure on the staircase. He turned quickly and said, “I thought we agreed to wait until after I talked to Tracy.”
