f**k HIM It had been two weeks since Dylan and Emma got married. To the outside world, they seemed like the perfect couple, but in reality, the situation was just awful. Emma knew what she had signed up for, but she never expected Dylan to treat her the way he did. He avoided her like she was some kind of disease. Emma's room was in the north wing of the mansion, while Dylan's was in the west wing. Since they got married, she had only seen him twice, and both times were at the office, where they had to act all lovey-dovey. Emma knew she shouldn't feel sad about the situation. After all, she had paid off her parents' debts and Dylan was sending money home to support her family. She lived in a luxurious mansion and could go shopping whenever she wanted. But no matter how comfortable her life was, she still felt lonely and drained. The contract marriage was only supposed to last two years, but the first two weeks already felt like an eternity. Emma was fast asleep when she heard moans echo through the entire mansion. They were loud. She got out of bed and followed the sound. As she got closer, it got clearer, “Yes! f**k me! You’re going to make me come..” she heard the female voice “shut the f**k up and face down!” She heard another voice which she recognized to be Dylan’s. Emma could not believe her ears! Dylan had brought home a woman and was f*****g her so loud, not caring if she heard. Emma peeped through the slightly open door. She saw the woman on her knees and hands while Dylan f****d her from behind. “Oh my god!” The woman moaned as she looked up. Emma was frozen with shock. The woman Dylan had brought home wasn’t just a random stranger but her best friend, Nora! Emma sat on her bed, trying to process what she had just seen. Her mind was racing with thoughts and emotions, but she didn't know what to do next. When she heard Nora leave, she took a deep breath and prepared to face Dylan. She wasn't sure what she would say, but she knew she needed to confront him about what had happened. She walked up to Dylan, who was smoking on the porch. "What the hell, Dylan?!" she asked, her face red with anger. Dylan turned to look at her, his expression unreadable. "What the hell! You're bringing women home now?" she said. "Why is that a problem?" Dylan started. "Need I remind you, our marriage is just business. So who I choose to sleep with and where, is none of your business," he added. Emma spoke with a steady voice, though her words betrayed her anger. “I don't care who you sleep with, but bringing them home? That's a violation of trust. How can we maintain the illusion of a happy marriage if you're parading your affairs in front of everyone?” she said, her voice growing louder. “What are you talking about?” he scoffed. “You're being ridiculous. It's not like she's going to tell anyone.” His words fell flat, and he could see the disappointment in her eyes. Dylan took a few steps closer, looming over her like a giant. “Don't tell me you're jealous,” he sneered. “I told you, no catching feelings.” Emma felt her blood run cold. “I'm not jealous,” she said, struggling to keep her voice steady. “This has nothing to do with feelings. It's about trust and honesty. I thought we had an agreement, but you're clearly not willing to keep your end of the bargain.” She felt trapped, like a mouse cornered by a cat. He was enjoying this, she realized with horror. “When we are away from public eyes, we can do whatever we want and don’t have to pretend to be in love. Besides, your friend just thinks she slept with her best friend’s cheating husband....she wouldn’t want that to get out” he said, smiling. Dylan's words were like a knife to her heart. “Do you think this is some kind of game?” she asked, her voice trembling. “Do you think this is just about s*x and power? I thought we were friends, at least. I thought we had some kind of connection, even if it wasn't what most people would call love. But you're just using me, like a toy to be discarded when you're finished playing.” She could feel tears burning in her eyes, but she forced herself to keep her composure. “Think whatever you want, I don’t care..just don’t stick your nose in my business ever again” he said, his voice cold and stern. He turned away from her, his expression unreadable. “I don't have time for this,” he said, dismissing her with a wave of his hand. “Go back to your room and keep out of my way. I have work to do.” He strode out, leaving her alone and devastated. Emma picked up her car keys and dashed out. She drove into the city, her eyes filled with tears. “f**k him!” She yelled. Deep down Emma knew she had hoped that Dylan would finally she her, and acknowledge her as his childhood sweetheart. She had her hopes up, she didn’t just enter the contract for money, but now it was clear to her that Dylan did not remember her and didn’t give a s**t about her. She drove to the club, parking her car and walking inside. The music was already thumping, and the dance floor was packed with people. She made her way to the bar, ordering a drink. As she sipped her cocktail, she felt the music pulsing through her body. It was like a drug, making her forget all her troubles. She closed her eyes and started to move to the beat, letting the rhythm take over. “Hey,” she heard a male voice call behind her. She turned and a tall, good-looking, blonde guy was standing behind her. “Can I keep you company?” He asked. Emma smiled, she felt like her old self again, carefree and fun-loving. She smiled at him and nodded in approval. "Why sure, I'd love some company!" she said, a smile spreading across her face. He took a seat beside her at the bar, and they began chatting. He was funny and charming, and she found herself laughing more than she had in a long time. The night flew by as they talked and danced, and she forgot all about her troubles. It was like a breath of fresh air, and she felt more like herself than she had in a while. Hours later, Emma left the club with the stranger. This wasn’t her first rodeo. The only difference was this man wasn’t going to show up at her work the next day as her new boss and childhood crush. After a long fulfilling s*x, Emma sneaked out of the room while the stranger was in the bathroom. She drove back home, feeling refreshed and a lot better. Perhaps it was best to keep things with her and Dylan professional. Maybe they can both be their real selves when they’re alone and just act for the prying eyes. ********* Dylan was fast asleep when he had the reoccurring dream; a little girl running through the open fields, her face blurry. He saw himself running after her as she giggled. “You can’t catch me,” he heard her say. Next thing he knew, they were both in a very dark space. But a spotlight shone above them, he looked at the mysterious girl, and she had a ring with half a heart engraved on it. “You promised,” the girl said sobbing, “you promised!” And that was it. Dylan woke up, his eyes teary. He’s had the same dream for years, ever since he got into an accident at age 14. He knew this girl who kept appearing in his dreams was someone he knew but couldn’t remember because of the accident that damaged his memory. After months of therapy, everything else came back except his memory of the mysterious girl. He had talked to his parents about it, but they said it was just the effect of the accident. But Dylan knew it was more than that, he had the other ring with him, his emotions when she appeared in his dreams were all real.
