3.the thread of revenge

1315 Words
Once at the police station, Sofia goes to the meeting room where everyone else is already installed. She is surprised to see Elisa, the infiltrator who has been working on the Russo case for years. They haven't been seen for years because Elisa had decided to dismantle the Russo Mafia mainly for personal reasons, perhaps revenge. She seemed to be in good shape and it was clear that she had no problem staying among all these criminals. “Sofia, Elisa has important information about the attack on the Conti villa,” the captain said in a low voice. “What do you know about this matter, Elisa?” Sofia asks him, impatient to gather new information. Elisa takes a deep breath. “I saw someone shoot Donato Russo. I don't know who it was, but he disappeared after that. The police arrived and arrested all the Russos who were there, but Donato was no longer there.” Sofia feels an icy chill running down her spine. “Did you see who shot him?” She asks trying to stay calm. Elisa shakes her head. “I didn’t see his face but I think he was a professional. He disappeared too quickly.” Sofia starts thinking about countless things. She had found Marco two hundred meters away and he was injured. He would not have escaped from the villa without the police getting their hands on him. She wants at all costs to incriminate him and yet it’s not him. “We need to know if Donato Russo is still alive,” the captain said. “If he’s alive, he could be our only chance to dismantle the Russo Mafia from the inside.” They all agree with the captain but each time, they always have the impression of returning to square one. “No member of the Conti Mafia has been arrested,” the captain tells them. They are all surprised and don't understand. Before the police arrivedthere was a clash between two camps. “The people who were there are the ones who just take care of the villa and always leave before the bosses arrive. If Donato decided to strike yesterday, it was because he knew the Conti would be there so someone warned them. I don’t know how it happens, but there’s a traitor among the Russos.” They are not surprised because in their world, there are always infiltrators to provide information to the adversary. “Elisa, you have to find him.” The captain orders him. “I know captain but you don’t think it’s dangerous for me to go back? Donato is no longer there to protect me, his daughter is jealous all the time. I don’t know what she would be able to do.” “She won’t do anything, Elisa. You must find the traitor and bring him back to us. I’m sure this mole knows where the Conti are.” Elisa accepts against her will. Donato was her only pillar and now that he is no longer there, she fears being in danger. The captain announces the end of the meeting and the room empties. In the hallway, Sofia accosts Elisa who seems to be in a hurry to leave. “If you no longer feel able to do it, tell the captain. He can’t force you, you know.” Elisa smiles sadly and nods her head. "I'll do it Sofia." It's my duty. I already knew from the start that nothing would be easy so don’t worry.” Sofia admires his courage and determination. She also hopes to be able to bring back good results from her business. “How do you do it?” “There are things we can’t explain, Sofia. We simply experience them and it marks us for life.” After these words, Sofia watches her walk away and disappear at the end of the corridor. After a long journey, Elisa enters the cabin, her cold, hard gaze fixed on Donato, who is lying on the ground, injured. “So Donato,” she said in a dry, authoritative voice. “You’re in a bad state, aren’t you?» Donato looks at her, his face pale and his eyes narrowed in pain. “Giulia,” he said. “Help me…” Elisa snickers, a harsh, nasty sound. “Ah, do you want help now? Do you want help now that you’re hurt and at my mercy?” Donato looks at her, his gaze pleading. “Giulia, please. I’m hurt.” Elisa crosses her arms, her gaze icy. “I’m not blind, grandfather, and I don’t have memory loss either. I remember shooting you very well and I chose the part well because I want to keep you alive for a while longer. You used me and I will do worse.” “That’s not true,” he said. “I love you, Giulia.” She bursts out laughing with a cruel sound. “Do you love me? You don't even know what love is. You only know how to give orders and kill people.” Donato looks at her with a defeated look. “What are you going to do with me?” he asks in a barely audible voice. “I’ll keep you alive, for now. I'm going to treat you and then I'm going to make you talk. You’re going to tell me everything I want to know about the mafia.” Donato looks at her in terror. “No,” he said, his voice weak. “I will never speak…” Elisa leans over him and says in a low, threatening voice; “Oh, you will speak. You will speak or you will die.” Donato closes his eyes for a long moment, trying to understand this turn of events. “I saved your life eight years ago, Giulia.” She smiled, massaging her temple. “I can’t understand how at your age you are so incapable of telling the difference between reality and what’s staged. Donato Russo, for a Mafioso like you who can be trapped by anyone, you should have known that not all the deer who are dying on a sidewalk are saved but a narcissistic p*****t like you can't take his eyes off a muse with generous curves, right? “What are you talking about, Giulia?" She slowly slides her dress down her body and Donato lowers his head, earning a mocking laugh from her. “You’re not going to tell me that you suddenly became a saint. Monsters like you never change and you know it. » She turns and points to the small of her back. “That scar, Donato. She's a story to tell you know. I never wanted to erase it and every time I was under your sheets, I saw you adore it. You adored her because without knowing it, it was thanks to her that we met and you know who had the brilliant idea of doing that?” She waits for him to guess. His evil smile only grows. " Who ?" Screams Donato, no longer able to stand this mystery which only proves what an imbecile he is. " Me." For minutes, there is total silence. Everyone remembers this meeting which helped Elisa infiltrate the Russo Mafia. “You didn’t dare…” Donato told him. She nods positively to make him understand that she dared and he is furious. “I trusted you…” “And that was your worst mistake, Donato. However, I just told you. You trusted a muse with a dream body. What did you expect?” He takes a deep breath to calm himself down. " For what ?" he asks her calmly. “You will know very soon but for now, I have to take care of your daughter, something which will be very easy because she is so stupid like her father."
