COMPLICATING THINGS

Gabi got to her apartment and was still feeling the strange from last night, so she laid down flat on her bed with a mixed feeling of guilt, pleasure and confusion at the same time with the thought of how she just slept with her father’s friend, someone way older than her…

Although she was happy she made out with the one her heart has always yearned for but at what cost? Someone way older to be her father, a play boy at that…all these thoughts started going through her head but she couldn’t take it anymore as her head was pounding really bad…and she felt sick to her stomach

After being lost in her thoughts for some minutes, suddenly, her phone rang

(Phone rings)

“Go away!”sloan murmured in a weak tone, stretching her hands to reach for her phone as she was reluctant to pick the call

She wondered who was calling her since she was not needed at work today

she picked, it was Sydney, a new recruit that she was supposed to help with some paper work and she remembered she hadn’t done anything concerning it

“hello ma”…Sydney said without hesitation as he was behind schedule

Heyy!!…sydney what’s up?…gabi replied gibberishly in attempt to act like she didn’t know why he called

“Pls ma, you’ve not still answered me concerning the paperwork”Sydney said

“I thought the deadline was Friday?” Gabi tried to look for a way out of it

“yes but mr cazorla asked us to submit them today so he could go over them” Sydney replied

“okay, you know what,just give me some minutes, I’ll be with you shortly

“okay ma” Sydney answered her as she dropped the call

She sprang up immediately, managing the body pains she took and bath and freshened up to leave for office….

(At the office)

As she sat down gently at her desk, she noticed that her computer was already turned on but she paid no attention as She started to work, but she couldn't focus as her mind kept going back to last night and the atrocities she committed…she couldn’t think straight at the moment

The thought of her sleeping with caZorla had started to haunt her and she certainly didn’t expect it to happen like that

she was lost in thought until someone knocked on her door, it was Sydney

“boss!” Like he normally liked called her

“Sydney I’m so sorry I haven’t worked on your papers but….” She was about apologizing until Sydney stopped her in her tracks, “no worries boss, I already took care of it…you were taking too long so I decided to do it with your computer and i have sent it to cazorla

The thought of hearing his name startled her and Sydney noticed…

“Boss is there something wrong?”

“No!…at all, I am just having little headache” she tried covering up

“oh that’s kinda my fault since I forced you to work today…” he was about to turn and walk away when he remembered something,

“ and lest I forget boss, mr caZorla asked you to see him, I have delivered my message”

Then he leaves, she’s all alone in her office and with her thoughts again but this time, she snapped out of it and decided to face her fears….she picked her purse and hurried to caZorla’s office

(At cazorla’s office)

Gabi knocks and opens the door

“I wondered when you’d finally gather the courage” caZorla said upon seeing her

“Excuse me?” Gabi asked confused as to why caZorla’s acting all grumpy

“You heard me right…look, about last night, I was drunk and that was a terrible Mistake from me, we shouldn’t have done anything together…let’s just blame it all on drinks so let’s just act like nothing happened and move on with business” caZorla spoke gibberishly avoiding eye contact

“how can you say that?…she replied furiously and confused

“It shouldn’t have happened we both have a lot to lose if people find out”caZorla added

The a wave of sadness suddenly hit gabi at that point because she knew it was true

She turned to leave when Cazorla handed her a letter

“Here, you’ll be changing departments…I think it’s what is best for you “caZorla added as he handed her the letter while trying to avoid eye contacts

Gabi still confused on what to reply, reluctantly collected the letter

as she attempts to walk out, caZorla draws her back and the temperature in the room shifts into a romantic one

“Look gabi, I really care about you, if I say otherwise then I’m a liar but this can’t happen again that’s why I have to do this”

On hearing this, gabi’s cheek started growing warm and her mood lighter…

“yes it shouldn’t have happened but so what? We can’t change the past no matter what”

There was silence for a while…

their eyes locked onto each other…whilst drawing close

The grip on their hands

It was as if the whole atmosphere changed

They both knew this was dangerous…they both wanted to walk away but for some reasons, both were reluctant to move

Then a knock on the door breaks the spell…

Gabi quickly pulled her hands from caZorla

it was frank, one of the oldest employees and also good friend of both gabi’s dad and cazorla

they startled a bit wondering if frank heard anything

“gabi you’re leaving already?”frank asked

“ye-es, I think i have things to do” she replies gibberishly

“gabi pls wait, let me also use this opportunity to invite you for my birthday party tomorrow, I’d love it if you come with your dad along with friends and family” frank asks gabi

“I’ll let them know although I’m not sure if my dad will come following his busy schedule but I’ll be available tomorrow” gabi replies with her heart still racing from the confrontation she just had and cazorla who’s still staring at her

“Pls try and convince him” Frank added as gabi leaves the room for the two men

“Hey buddy, are you good? You’ve been quiet” Frank turns his attention towards cazorla

“Nah..it’s nothing, just a few stuffs on my mind, nothing I can’t handle” cazorla wears a fake smile

“That’s the spirit!…I’ll need your full concentration for tomorrow since it’s my day” he adds as he exits the office
