Chapter 6: The Mysterious Gangsters
Three Months Later...
The early morning sunlight filtered through the curtains of Pricy's bedroom.
She lay comfortably on her bed, smiling as she chatted with Mike on the phone.
"Good morning," Pricy said softly.
"Good morning, beautiful. How was your night?" Mike asked.
"It was fine... but short."
"Short?" he chuckled. "Why?"
Pricy's lips curved into a smile.
"Because I missed you."
A moment later, a cute love sticker appeared on her screen.
I miss you too.
Mike continued, "Have you eaten?"
"Yes."
"Are you sure?"
"Of course. Even if I hadn't eaten, you can't send food through the phone."
"If it were possible, I'd send you a whole restaurant."
Pricy laughed.
The two continued chatting happily until another call suddenly flashed on her screen.
It was Betty.
Pricy immediately answered.
"Hello?"
"Pricy..."
Betty's voice sounded shaky.
Pricy's smile disappeared instantly.
"Betty? What's wrong? Why do you sound like that?"
"There is a problem here."
Pricy immediately sat upright on the bed.
"What problem?"
"Where are you now?"
"I'm at home. Betty, tell me what's happening."
"There are some strange men here. I don't know who they are. They're destroying things and disturbing patients in the hospital."
"What?!"
"I need your help."
"No problem. I'm coming right away."
The call ended.
Without wasting another second, Pricy jumped off the bed, changed her clothes, grabbed her car keys, and rushed out.
A few minutes later, Pricy arrived at Betty's hospital.
Betty was already waiting anxiously at the entrance.
"Where are they?" Pricy asked.
Betty pointed inside.
"They're over there."
Pricy's eyes narrowed.
About ten men dressed in black occupied one side of the hospital.
Patients and nurses kept their distance as the men caused a disturbance.
Pricy walked confidently toward them.
"Excuse me," she said. "Are any of you patients in this hospital?"
One of the men glared at her.
"How dare you speak to our boss like that?"
Pricy blinked.
"Boss?"
Her gaze shifted toward the man standing in the center.
"Interesting."
She folded her arms.
"Well, if none of you are patients, then kindly leave and stop disturbing the people here."
Another man stepped forward.
"You've got a death wish. Who are you?"
Pricy smiled.
"I'm Inspector Detective Pricy."
The men exchanged looks.
A third man raised his hand angrily.
"Don't you think you're becoming rude?"
Before he could do anything, the boss lifted his hand.
"Enough."
The man immediately stopped.
The boss glanced at Pricy coldly.
"Escort her out."
"What?" Pricy laughed.
"Don't touch me. I should be the one escorting all of you out."
The boss ignored her.
"Shadow."
The third man stepped forward.
"Take her outside."
Pricy shook her head dramatically.
"Wow. I can already tell all of you need psychological treatment. Fortunately, there's a ward for that in this hospital."
Several of the men exploded in anger.
"How dare you insult our boss!"
"He's your boss, not mine."
She pointed toward the exit.
"Last warning. Leave."
"Or what?" one of them challenged.
Pricy counted dramatically.
"One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten."
She pointed at each of them.
"All of you—including your boss—OUT."
The men burst into laughter.
One of them placed a hand on her shoulder and attempted to drag her away.
Pricy smiled.
"You should feel embarrassed if a girl beats you."
The laughter grew louder.
"You can beat us?" another mocked.
"Watch carefully."
Everything happened in seconds.
Pricy grabbed the man's wrist and twisted it.
"Argh!"
As another charged toward her, she swiftly used her jacket to trap his movement before knocking him backward.
The first man stumbled and crashed into two others.
Chaos erupted.
Another rushed at her.
Pricy dodged smoothly.
The man's punch missed and landed directly on his teammate.
The teammate staggered backward and accidentally headbutted another.
One by one, the gang members fell into complete confusion.
Nurses and patients watched with wide eyes.
Within moments, nearly all ten men were groaning on the floor.
Then, unexpectedly—
Their boss fainted.
Silence.
Pricy blinked.
"Oh."
She scratched her head awkwardly.
"Sorry."
She pointed at the unconscious boss.
"Especially you, Mr. Boss."
The hospital staff struggled to hide their laughter.
Humiliated and defeated, the remaining men hurriedly carried their unconscious leader away.
The moment they disappeared, Betty rushed over.
"Wow! Perfect job!"
Pricy laughed.
"I'm happy to help."
Betty wrapped an arm around her shoulder.
"I'm so lucky to have you as my best friend."
"Same here."
Pricy's expression became serious.
"Tell me honestly. Do you know any of those men?"
Betty shook her head.
"Never seen them before."
"Hmm."
Pricy frowned.
"Something doesn't feel right."
"What do you mean?"
"Ten men don't just walk into a hospital for no reason."
Betty thought for a moment.
Then she smirked.
"Maybe they're after you."
"What?"
"You've made enough enemies in your lifetime."
Pricy rolled her eyes.
"Come on. We graduated months ago."
"Who said enemies disappear after graduation?"
Betty teased.
"What if you get home and find them waiting at your front door?"
Pricy's eyes widened.
"God forbid!"
The two girls burst into laughter.
"Anyway," Pricy said, "let's leave before another group of zombies arrives to pluck out your eyeballs."
Betty gasped dramatically.
"Don't say that!"
"Hurry and get your bag."
The two friends laughed.
As they headed toward the parking lot, Pricy smiled.
"I'll stay at your house for two days."
"Only two days?" Betty complained.
"Don't worry. You're my best friend. I'll never stop visiting you."
The girls hugged before leaving together.
Meanwhile, inside the hospital...
Several nurses gathered at the reception desk.
Nurse Billie lowered her voice.
"Did you see Detective Pricy today?"
Nurse Juliet nodded excitedly.
"See? I nearly fainted! She beat ten gangsters by herself!"
"Exactly!"
The two women laughed.
Nurse Rose walked past.
"You people are such gossips."
Juliet crossed her arms.
"Who are you calling a gossip?"
"I'm just saying."
Billie pointed at her.
"If we're gossiping, why did you stop to listen?"
Rose opened her mouth.
"I was only passing by and—"
"And?" Juliet interrupted.
"And... and..."
Billie burst into laughter.
"See? That's how people talk when they're caught!"
Juliet pointed dramatically.
"Congratulations. You are officially Miss Gossip of the Year."
"What?!"
Rose huffed.
"I don't have time for this nonsense."
Billie waved her hand.
"You can even sleep here if you want."
Juliet and Billie burst into laughter.
Rose hissed and walked away.
The two nurses continued laughing long after she disappeared.
Far away, inside a moving vehicle...
The unconscious boss finally opened his eyes.
A dangerous smile slowly appeared on his face.
"Interesting..."
The men looked at him nervously.
"Boss?"
He stared out the window.
"For the first time in years... someone has entertained me."
His eyes darkened.
"Inspector Detective Pricy."
A smirk appeared on his lips.
"We'll meet again."
