After school, I waited outside the gym like he asked. Five minutes passed. Then ten. Then twenty. People walked past me, laughing, leaving, living their lives. But I stayed. Because I always stayed. Finally, I saw him. Noah walked toward me slowly, hands in his pockets, looking… tired. Not guilty. Just tired. "Hey," he said. I crossed my arms. "You said we needed to talk." He nodded. Then paused. Like he didn't know where to start. That alone hurt. "I've just been… really stressed lately," he finally said. I laughed once, bitterly. "That's it?" He frowned slightly. "Sophie—" "You forgot me." "You ignored me." "You went to a party and didn't even tell me." His jaw tightened. "It's not like that." "Then what is it like, Noah?" Silence. And in that silence… I already knew something was ending. Even if neither of us wanted to say it out loud yet.
