Aurora's mind whirled. "What kind of gifts?"
Sofia leaned in, her voice barely above a whisper. "Psychic abilities, telekinesis, healing...the list goes on. Ethan's family has been hiding in plain sight, but there are those who would use their gifts for personal gain."
Aurora's thoughts flashed to Elijah's warnings. "Who would do that?"
Sofia's expression turned grim. "Rival organizations, corrupt government agencies...and sometimes, even family members."
As Sofia revealed more about The Guardians, Aurora's loyalty was torn. Should she trust Sofia or Elijah?
Elijah's eyes locked onto Aurora's, his expression unreadable. "You know, don't you?"
Aurora's voice was firm. "Sofia told me about The Guardians. What's your connection to Ethan's family?"
Elijah's jaw clenched. "I was hired to protect Ethan's father years ago. We became close friends, but...things changed."
Aurora sensed a deeper pain. "What happened?"
Elijah's gaze drifted. "Ethan's father was killed in a supposed accident. I've been watching over Ethan ever since."
Aurora's empathy surged. "You're not just a bodyguard, are you?"
Elijah's eyes returned to hers. "I'm his brother, in every way that counts."
Aurora's investigation led her to a secluded mansion on the outskirts of town. Ethan's family owned it, but something felt off.
She snuck inside, navigating dark corridors. A hidden room revealed documents detailing Ethan's family history and their involvement with The Guardians.
Aurora's eyes widened. "This can't be..."
A faint noise alerted her to an intruder. Aurora turned, ready to defend herself.
A figure emerged from the shadows – a woman with piercing blue eyes.
"Welcome, Aurora," the woman said. "I've been expecting you."
The woman's identity and intentions remained unclear, but one thing was certain: Aurora's world was about to implode.
