…Luna's bedroom 10 am…
Heiro woke up to Luna's face only a few inches away from his. She scurried back as Heiro jumped up in shock. "Sorry I was just, I was looking at..." She let out a sigh before getting worked up, her frustration was cute at times but to Heiro now, he couldnt understand how him waking up to someone hovering over him was supposed to be scarier for her than him. She settled on a sheepish chagrin. They were on the floor surrounded by blankets like she tried to make a makeshift human-sized doggy bed and gave up mid-way.
Heiro sat up, she quickly shifted her demeanor to a more upbeat one. "You finally woke up my little alpha pup." she said with a grin, now it was his turn to chagrin, "Don't be embarrassed", he sat back, “after getting over my shock I realized you were right, it's kinda cool. Any side effects?"
He flexed and did a few sitting stretches as a smiles slowly wormed it way on to his face. He grinned and got up, "No I feel great, in fact, I feel better than ever." He flexed, then he noticed she was seemingly trying her hardest to stare upward, he looked down and found the reason he felt so free, his underwear was shredded, he had apparently torn them up in his sleep. He walked over to her drawer with his stay-over clothes from his previous sleepovers and put on some clothes: a red t-shirt, light blue jeans, and a black silk hoodie as well as a new pair of underwear of course.
They got ready to leave but, "Heiro where are we going exactly?"
“Well Jayna is a worry wort and I freaked them out so we should probably call them and head to the station so that if they made any calls for a k********g or well…” he realized he wasn’t sure what they’d even describe it as. They probably would have seemed crazy and might have been held at the station, even kids are held for extended periods of time without their express consent if they don’t say otherwise. “I hope they remember any of those AP Law and government classes.”
… Police station 10:30 am…
"Yes a young man and woman called about you,” Heiro and Luna stood before a wide burly man in the standard light blue and black formal uniform of a police officer, the man seemed like he was bored and miserable when they had entered, everyone was talking but he was the only one standing by himself, but when they stepped up to ask him some questions he was more than happy to help, “but when the ambulance arrived all they could find was a person sized hole in the wall of the bathroom at the bar. We filed a missing persons report even though it hadn’t been 48 hours just to be safe we were just getting started contacting your family for questions but since we’re already here have anyone you want me to tell you’re safe? We can call them and your parents and tell them your okay."
"Yeah that'd be great." He answered
Pyo and Jayna saw them and were filled with joy. Heiro was confused, his friends were there? The officer near them saw me and walked over with them. "Is this him?"
Pyro smiled, "I hope so."
"You've got some explaining to do." Jayna glared at Heiro.
Heiro started to speak. "Well um yeah. I was in a lot of pain so I ran around like crazy and left through the window and ran around in the forest. Then past out near Luna's house."
Luna glanced at him furrowing her brows. Why would he lie like that?
"Kay that sorta checks out for you but there are a lot of holes, where did the hole in the bathroom come from, why didn’t you go to a hospital to treat your condition, and what were you doing miss." The officer questioned them like an interrogation even question Luna.
But unlike Heiro, Luna didn’t have to even lie. "Caring for this kid over here." She grabbed Heiro and put him in a head lock before rustling his hair playfully.
“Watch it!” Heiro yelled at her.
"Kay your Alibi sorta checks out… we were going to have you come down later today but since you’re here now would you mind answering a few questions… both of you since you were together. You worked with a Jonathan Smith?"
She narrowed his eyes giving him a confused look, “yes, I used to work with him until he fired me yesterday… why?”
“Jonathan Smith was murdered yesterday, higher ups think it wasn’t an animal attack but it was too close to town to be one of the animals that live near by, the mangled mess of him also looks too deliberate to be the work of an animal.”
Heiro glared the man in the eyes without changing his facial experession or body language, “So you think it was her?” His words leaked venom. It was like his rage at the claim and blood lust were beginning to flood into his eyes and like open gates to a damn, his glare brought force and pressure. He wasn’t sure why he was so mad, the cop was just doing his job. Luna grabbed his face turning his head away. He was about to say something when he saw his eyes in her’s, they were burning yellow, they barely even looked human. As soon as he saw it the eyes returned to their darker brown hue. His aggression was alleviated, “Look we’d be happy to come in and talk about it at a later date but I have to talk to my friends and family and she just lost her job so she’s going to have to look for work. Could we come in some time later next week. We have nothing to hide but today is going to be busy and we could use some time to relax and regroup.” He took Luna’s hand and began walking without giving the man a moment to reply to anything that had just happened. Jayna and Pyo followed asking him to wait or slow down so he could explain.
Heiro slowed letting them
Catch up before he grabbed every ones arm and ran through the door."I’ll get us some tickets to disney I need to go home first though okay? See you guys soon."
Luna gave him a look that asked the question, are you serious, “I drove here let me take you home.”
“It’s the opposite way Luna and I’m a runner at heart.” He ran home and went to find his parents. His father was on the couch while his mother was in the kitchen so it wasn’t hard to find them, just open the front door, "Yo ma and pops guess what."
"What hun." His mother smiled. "Give me a truthful answer when did you know I was a werewolf?“
"What are you talking about son?" Father said worryingly, his voice was filled with fear and worry but not disbelief. "Dad that was so fake. You always kept me away from full moons and eclipses of any kind. No Comets for me, and the aggression and dog like games that felt so natural to play as a little boy. My processing and reaction time is faster, I see clearer and farther, I can hear you from up to 100 yards away if I focus. Don't lie to me."
His mother sorta smiled if you could call it that, it was the most devious half smile he had seen on a person and he watched the joker s*******r cartoon families with a grin.
"Yes we knew… what kind of wolf are you?"
Heiro’s eyes changed, he could feel it because his heart no longer felt human, the aggression boiling over wasn’t out of hate, he was afraid of something, he didn’t know for sure but he felt as though there was some how a right answer to that question.
"A twin tailed red wolf." His earlier smirk dropped as he said it.
His dad stood and walked over to the window reaching under it and pulling a panel from the wall, Heiro’s instincts were screaming at him to run but he was too confused to trust his instincts, "Son your an abomination this for your own good." He pulled out a gun and shot Heiro with no hesitation! He’d never been shot before, the feeling was different. It was painful, but it didn’t feel like being stabbed or cut, it didn’t feel like a hole was punched in him but like part of his body caved in and crushed it self, then came the feeling of puncture and discomfort. It was like being punched but the blow passed through you and left a stinging hole that seemed to grow in pain. He looked down to see the bullet had gone in but not far he could catch a glimmer of silver, It was a silver bullet! "s**t I missed."
"Damn this hurts." The aggression began to grow rapidly, the pain and anguish, but it didn’t feel like it was coming from him any more. He felt a new personality taking over. Like a switch had been flicked. Something not heartless but cold, and he felt the only way to warm it was with fresh blood. He lunged at his father and he shot at him again but Heiro was ready this time and dodged it. He knocked the gun out of his hand and slammed him on the floor. His mother picked up the gun and shot him drawing him away from his father, he jumped on her and stared choking her. She tried as a last ditch effort to speak to the boy she had raised for 17 years. "Heiro I love you stop this."
The foreign aggression resided and he felt remorse. A moment of weakness they’d be sure to remind him of, She shot him again and suddenly some guy with a black and red leather jacket, black jeans aimed and shot through their window head shotting both his mother and father. He looked like he was in his mid or early 20s with messy but semi long hair. It was him the strange man from the bar. “We gotta go that won’t keep them down long and I can’t enter without their permission.”
"Who are you?” Heiro asked from his now prone position on the floor.
He smirked, “Well little brother we’ll have more time to talk once we’re both safe and out of dodge." He zoomed away but if Heiro wasn't a werewolf it'd probably look like he vanished and where he was standing was a note. It read, “meet me at the movie theater AMC in Orlando if you want to bring friends, I heard you talking about Disney at the station so we should be able to meet up tomorrow night.”
"Night isn’t specific at all, what’s he gonna do watch movies all night till I show up?” He looked at his bloody bullet wound clothes. “I need to get changed." He wheezed out, blood spurting from his lips involuntarily. He stood and looked to his parents, steam rose from their wounds and he saw them closing, unlike his own bullet wounds which seemed to be closing but far slower that theirs. “This is what silver does to a wolf?” He glanced at their gun, the one with the silver bullets, he picked it up and unloaded the clip and c****d it before dropping the gun and keeping the bullets. His parents shouldn’t haven known how to use this, they were kind and not confrontational. His parents shouldn’t have been able to use it so well… against him. He knew about guns with his little time spent in JROTC, Junior Reserve Officer Training Corp, there he was taught and trained as if he were in some sort of military club with strict regulations. His mother was the one who advocated for it. He ran up stairs and got into his usual attire.
His phone buzzed and rang, he looked at the caller ID and saw it was Jayna, he picked up immediately, "Heiro we’re on our way to get you."
He walked down stairs and looked around, "Kay that's great, just uhhh give me 10 minutes." He grabbed his parents slowly recovering corpses and tossed them in the basement, tied them up, and locked it. Several minutes later his friends arrived. He walked out of the door making sure to block the bloody mess, if his so called brother was implying that they’d get back up eventually then it’s not like someone would come by and say they were dead so cleaning up wasn’t the priority. He ran to the car and opened the door jumping in, leaving for Disney. They got there and drove up to the dock parking. Pyo would have preferred just driving to one of the parks and parking there but Jayna loved the Fairy, Luna loved the water and Heiro didn’t care, so it a three to one majority.
I'm gonna tell them. "Yo guys um… I, this is hard to say, let’s just say my parents and I go into a physical fight over something they didn’t like about the way I was, they weren’t a fan of my outburst and I wasn’t a fan of their form of discipline.” His eyes met Luna hoping she’d some how gleam the truth from his eyes. But all he saw was a worried and sad friend. Way to ruin the mood, he thought.
Luna stared into his eyes for a moment longer, "He's right guys if we pity him it'll just make it worse. But on our own time we should talk." We all smiled.
Pyo smiled and slapped Heiro’s shoulder, “Don’t worry man you’ll be fine. We’re here to talk whenever you need.”
Jayna nodded with a soft smile, “If you need a place to stay you can stay in the guest room at my house, my parents love you, they’d be fine with it as long as you can explain a little more to them, plus it would be fun to have a step brother.”
…Meanwhile at the house…
The land lord walked over to the front door, knock! Knock! "Any one home I smell him. When we gonna start,” he cleared his throat, “The Code R." He he got no answer but he could hear what sounded like muffled screams. He busted open the door and ran in. A shadow zoomed around the house as he entered. "Oh my lord... Is any one there?" He stared at the blood in the room. He searched the house following the sound to the basement, the door was locked so he kicked it down. There he found the married couple tied up. He undid their b*****e and they began rapid firing questions at him.
“Where is the boy?”
“We’re you followed?”
“Did you smell his trail?”
“He just left!”
“We’ve gotta kill him.”
He cut the couple off, “we can talk after we get you back to the clan.” He ushered them upstairs and to the door but they wouldn’t follow him out.
Petrified in fear they said two words in unison, “That smell.”
A dark mysterious man dropped down and frightened the man, for good reason. "Who are you."
"I'm Heiro's brother Alashgaan, Blaze Alashgaan. But to you it’s just nightmare, and you are ........ Well um dead I guess." Blaze blurred around the man toying with him before he finally stopped behind him, gripped his head and snapped the mans neck and tore his head off. The last thing he could hear before it all went black was the man questioning his friends, "I felt some pretty weak magic near Heiro, that you guys? Don’t make me burn the house down."
