Sitting in silence during the remainder of the drive to Purity’s grandmother's house, Lasci’s mind was full of confusion and rejection.
“Why did I try to kiss her?” he asked himself because now things were awkward, but yet, he still wanted to pull over the vehicle and try again, take her regardless of how much she may protest.
He thought it was the right moment. The wolf inside him wanted to connect to her, feel her out. But, the look she gave him before turning away was one of fear and uncertainty.
