Chapter 10

Adrian led her into his private study. The room was cold, modern, and dominated by a massive mahogany desk. On top of it, a sleek black phone was already ringing, the screen flashing with Damian’s assistant’s number. Adrian didn't release her wrist until they were standing right in front of the desk. He picked up the phone, tapped the screen, and placed it on the desk between them on speaker. "She's listening, Damian," Adrian said, his voice cold and commanding. "Aurora!" Damian’s voice immediately exploded through the speaker. He sounded frantic, angry, and completely stripped of his usual arrogant composure. "Are you out of your mind? What are you doing with my brother? Did he threaten you? Did he force you to go with him?" Aurora looked at the phone, then she looked at Adrian. Adrian was watching her, his dark eyes narrowed, silently waiting for her to say the words they both knew he wanted to hear. He wanted her to say she chose him. He wanted her to show Damian that she was his now. He was looking at her like a master waiting for his pet to perform. And suddenly, looking at Adrian's smug, possessive expression, something inside Aurora finally snapped. The fear, the exhaustion, and the helplessness she had carried for the last year suddenly burned away, replaced by a hot, furious wave of anger. She was tired of being a pawn in their sibling rivalry. She was tired of Damian treating her like an unwanted chore, and she was tired of Adrian treating her like a prize he had successfully stolen. She took a deep breath, stepped forward, and grabbed the phone off the desk, lifting it to her ear. "Damian," Aurora said, her voice loud, clear, and completely devoid of the trembling weakness she had felt all morning. "Aurora, thank God," Damian breathed. "Tell me where you are. I’m sending my security team to get you. Adrian has lost his mind, but I will handle him. I will make sure—" "Shut up, Damian," she cut him off. On the other side of the desk, Adrian’s eyes widened slightly in surprise. His jaw clenched, his gaze locking onto her face as she spoke. "What?" Damian gasped on the other end. "I said, shut up," Aurora repeated, her voice dripping with pure disgust. "For a year, I sat in your house and did everything you asked. I tolerated your coldness, I tolerated your insults, and I tolerated your mistress. I stayed because I wanted to protect my father. But you don't have that power over me anymore. Adrian bought the debt. You have nothing." "Aurora, you can't do this—" "I am divorcing you, Damian," she said, her words sharp and final. "And if you even think about fighting it, I will personally hand over the financial files Adrian has to the police. I am done with you. Never call me again." Without waiting for his response, she slammed the phone down onto the mahogany desk, cutting the call off completely. The study went dead quiet. Adrian stood across from her, a slow, dark smirk beginning to spread across his handsome face. He looked incredibly proud, as if his plan had worked out perfectly. He took a step toward her, his hands reaching out to wrap around her waist. "That was perfect, Aurora," Adrian whispered, his voice thick with pride and obsession. "You showed him exactly who you belong to—" "Don't touch me," Aurora snapped. She slapped his hands away from her waist, taking a giant step back. Adrian froze. His smirk instantly vanished, replaced by a look of sheer, unadulterated shock. He stared at his hands, then up at her face. The cold, dangerous businessman looked completely thrown off balance. "What did you say?" Adrian asked, his voice dropping into a dangerously low register. "I said, don't touch me," Aurora hissed, her chest heaving as she glared at him. She didn't look like the quiet, submissive woman he had watched for a year. Her eyes were flashing with fire, and she stood tall, refusing to back down. "You think you won, Adrian? You think because you saved my father and threatened Damian, I’m just going to fall into your arms and play the role of your little captive?" Adrian’s eyes darkened, a dangerous, possessive heat flaring in his gaze. He took a slow, predatory step toward her. "Aurora, I saved you from a loveless marriage. I bought your father's freedom. I did everything for you." "You did it for yourself!" she shouted, her voice echoing off the walls of his modern study. "You didn't ask me what I wanted! You threw away my clothes, you locked me in this house in the middle of nowhere, and you told me I have to spend every single second under your watch. How is that any different from what Damian did?" "I love you!" Adrian roared, his composure finally cracking. He lunged forward, grabbing her by the shoulders and pinning her back against the wooden door of the study. He was breathing heavily, his face inches from hers. "He hated you, Aurora! I worship you! How can you compare my love to his neglect?" "Because your love feels like a prison!" Aurora yelled back, staring directly into his dark, terrifying eyes without flinching. She raised her hands, gripping his wrists tightly, trying to push him off her. "You think because you have millions of dollars and a big company, you can just buy my life? You gave me the cold shoulder for a year, Adrian. You didn't talk to me, you ignored me, and now you expect me to just bow down to you because you decided you're ready to own me?" Adrian’s grip on her shoulders tightened, but he didn't hurt her. He was staring at her as if he were seeing her for the very first time. The quiet, fragile girl he had been obsessed with was gone. Standing in front of him was a fierce, passionate woman who was looking at him with absolute defiance. And to his horror and delight, it only made his obsession ten times worse. "I am not your junior brother anymore, Aurora," Adrian growled, his breath hot against her face. "And I am not letting you go. You can scream, you can fight me, you can hate me... but you are staying in this house. With me." "Then you better get ready for a fight, Adrian," Aurora whispered, her voice cold and sharp as glass. "Because I am not going to make this easy for you."
