CHAPTER 8 The alarm clock rang out from his bedroom. What the hell? Little Joe almost jumped out of his skin. He was startled out of his sleep. He jumped up from the floor where he slept the whole night through. He was frightened – the dream was crystal clear in his mind: The images, the words, the well. He glanced at the door to the back room, it seemed normal, unexceptional, but in his mind the tap tap tap had begun again. He had a sudden feeling he must get out of the house immediately. He sprung up the stairs and out the front door into the sanity he hoped to find in the normal world. The sun shone brightly down on him, immediately heating his exposed skin.
