CHAPTER 23 The morning had come and gone; burned quickly through the fuel of an old woman’s last fading strength. The aura outside was a continuation of the early morning -- cold, rainy, gray. But now the weather played a trivial part in his day. And the rain, though pouring at a torrential rate, might as well have been the feathers of a golden goose falling like snow, as his thoughts were a million miles away.
