The Trial

The next morning, Lowish was asked what he had seen but he could not recall. Cloe suggested they let him be. She would take him to a seer to help him sleep well at night. They all packed and went to the store, but Robbin was asked to stay behind, plant some cabbage and lettuce in the small garden behind the house. Zoey was attending to customers in the store, when Leah ran to her and asked for Robbin. Zoey told her to leave the store and never to come back. Leah pleaded with her but Zoey paid no attention to her. Leah left in tears. Lowish secretly ran to tell her that Robbin was at home. “Please can you take me there”? She asked Lowish. “Why not”? He replied as he held her hand and took her to Robbin. Cloe and Zoey could not find Lowish. They searched all over but could not find him. When Leah got to Robbin, he was surprised to see them. Lowish told him Leah was crying and needed to see him. Robbin thanked Lowish and told him to return to the store. “Mother will be looking for you” he said. Leah thanked Lowish, he smiled at them and left the store. Robbin asked Leah what the problem was, “My wedding is tomorrow and I don’t want to get married to the man my father has chosen” she said in tears, leaning over Robbin’s shoulder. Robbin told her to marry the man and her father wished the best for her. Leah refused and told him that the father was a greedy man who did everything for his selfish interests. He told her she had no choice. Just return to your family” he said. Leah professed her love for Robbin. He was astonished because he never saw that coming. “We are just friends, Leah…. Besides, I feel nothing special about you” he said to her, pushing her away from his body. “It's Zoey.. right? It’s because of Zoey you don’t love me?” she said in desperation. Robbin sighed, placing his palms on her shoulders as he looked into her eyes. “Zoey is my sister, please leave her out of this. I'm not into women” he said in a pitiful tone.

Lowish returned to the store and saw Cloe and Zoey worried. Glidex held him angrily and asked where he was returning from, “I took Leah to Robbin”. he said. “What”? They all chorused in surprise, Lowish apologized and explained how he felt pity for Leah. A man who overheard what Lowish said, asked what Robbin was doing with the betrothed daughter of Bizaardvark. The man told them that Robbin’s closeness to Leah was enough to have his head on a spike. Cloe ran to the house to warn Robbin of Leah but could not find him. Things were destroyed in the house and neither of them was anywhere to be found. She hurried back to tell Glidex in the store. Glidex told her not to worry. If Robbin did not return by the morrow, they would declare him missing. Robbin was brought before Bizaardvark in chains. “You r***d my daughter” he said to Robbin in a rage, his voice roaring and his eyeball bulging. Robbin pleaded with Leah to tell them the truth about his innocence. Leah cried to her dad that Robbin r***d her. The captain had doubts about it, “but this was beside the guy I saw you with besides the lake", he said to Leah. Leah looked at the captain rolling her eyeballs at him. “Yes, father, he was the friend I introduced to you, but he took advantage of the friendship. He did it to spite me because I refused to accept his proposal” she said to Bizaardvark, stuttering. The captain advised Bizaardvark to call the chief maid to have a virginity test on Leah. “enough!!!” Bizaardvark shouted “lock the boy up, in two days we will have his head on a stake”. he concluded. The Captain ordered the guards to do as Bizaardvark commanded. Robbin was kept in prison and was not given either food or water. When the news about his imprisonment got to his family, they hurried to Bizaardvark to plead with him but they were not allowed to see Bizaardvark. They returned home.

Zoey sneaked out of the house and spied on Leah. Leah was swimming in the river when Zoey came to her. “Who told you I was here”, Leah asked Zoey. Zoey pointed at her and said “you desperate monster, how can you be so cruel to accuse a man you claim to love of r**e”? Leah denied loving Robbin but Zoey told her the love she had for Robbin was written all over her face. “Of course I love Robbin” Leah owned up to it “, since he refused my proposal, I decided to use him as a bait. At least the wedding was cancelled” she giggled. Zoey jumped into the water to strangle her but the guards rushed towards her and seized her. Leah gasped for air. “Take her away, she is the sister of the r****t” she said as she tried to clear her throat. As Zoey was taken away to Bizaardvark’s prison for interrogation, the captain walked up to Leah and asked “I thought these people were your friends”. “Thank God you said they were, it was actually in the past not any more”, Leah said to the captain. The captain told her to think about how she would feel if the innocent boy was beheaded. Leah began to cry that he was not innocent and that she was truly r***d by him. She could never have done such to a friend. “This is the reason why your father placed guards over you and kept them out of your reach”. The captain said, he consoled her and took her home. Zoey was thrown into prison, Robbin was severely tortured, his clothes were torn, his hair shaved to bald, his eyes were swollen with blood stains in the conjunctiva and he had bruises all over his body. Robbin was weak but he could hear Zoey call his name “Zoey is that you”? He asked in a shaky, low voice. “My brother”, Zoey called out to him and went to hug him “You are alive”, she said. . Robbin asked Zoey why she was in prison, she explained how she confronted Leah and was arrested. “You shouldn’t have….”Robbin said in tears. “I didn’t do it. We were discussing, and immediately we heard horses approaching. She put her dress into shreds and started to scream. I was confused because I never expected Leah to be so cruel. She even killed a hen and spilled the blood on her dress”. “Oh yeah, that was the dead hen we found” Leah said to Robbin, nodding her head as she bit her finger in regret. “I won’t let you die” she said.
