The stranger

The next morning, Zoey was beating wet clothes with sticks because that was how clothes were washed. Robbin walked up to her and asked her if she slept well. Zoey paused to reply to Robbin, panting heavily “Yes, but we still need to search for Cloe, that was the queen’s demand”, “Allow me help you”, Robbin said to Zoey. Zoey refused, still panting “if you are done with your chores go and take a bath”, she said. Robbin agreed to allow her to continue with her work but he decided he should search for Cloe. In the night, the lady returned from work with a wounded man. “You”? Robbin asked, pointing at the man. The lady asked if he knew the man. Robbin told her they had escaped from Alaska but he was shot by an archer, “He is the new Inca of Alaska”, he said to the lady. “lower your voice, the people of Kurta are no friend to the Alaskans”, the lady said. Robbin boiled some herbs for the wounded man. The lady asked how he had knowledge of herbs. “My father was the palace doctor”, Robbin replied. Robbin applied some herbs to the wound and the man groaned in pain. Robbin assisted the lady to take care of the man until he fell into a deep sleep. The next morning, the lady was preparing sea soup on the outside, when the man came out of his hurt moaning as he struggled to sit next to her. “You are looking stronger this morning” the lady said to him, the man smiled at her and replied “Yes”. The lady asked how he managed to come into Kurta with such an injury. He told her how he killed a Kurta soldier and wore his armor in disguise. He managed to find his way to the inn to have some rest. There she found him. “Thank you for saving me”, he ended. The lady blushed and asked him his name. “My name is Cloe” she said to him, “I am Glidex”, he replied. They both smiled at each other. Robbin went to Zoey to tell her that he had found Cloe. Zoey asked him how he managed to know she was Cloe. He told her he eavesdropped on the conversation between Glidex and Cloe. Zoey suggested they pretend not to know who she was. Cloe went to the inn, some men approached her and asked her if she had seen a man wounded by an arrow. She denied ever seeing him. A young lady walked up to the men and told them of how she saw Cloe taking the wounded man out of the inn. They left in anger for Cloe’s house but one of the men stayed behind to monitor her. They searched all around her house but could not find anybody. Cloe was worried and scared, she was fidgeting. The other men returned to her and apologized for accusing her falsely. Cloe was surprised. She hurried home and saw the children and Glidex playing with the baby. Cloe was shocked. She stared at everybody for some minutes and asked how they hid themselves. Glidex told her Robbin hid them under the house. “How did you know about the secret room under this house”? Cloe asked Robbin. “I have been trailing you for sometime now, because I don’t trust you. I needed to know if we were safe. The day you went into the secret room to tidy it up, I stalled you” Robbin replied. Cloe was disappointed in him for not trusting her. Robbin told her that she was never sincere enough to trust her. She was Cloe but hid it from them. Cloe sobbed and told them that she was the lady they had come to look for. “I will not tell you anything more, until it’s time”, she said. Glidex consoled her, Cloe sniffled and walked away. She stood outside looking at the sky. Glidex went to her and told her not to forget the good that Robbin’s knowledge of the secret room did for them. Glidex took her into a room and had s*x with her. Glidex fell in love with Cloe but advised him and the children not to make their identity known to anybody.
