Chapter 7Lina The conversation with Amanda, the social worker, had gone from bad to worse, the look on the woman’s face growing into one of utter disbelief the more questions Lina answered, no matter how well Amanda tried to mask it. Lina had to grit her teeth to keep her polite smile on when she, in fact, wanted to smack Amanda. Didn’t matter, she kept reminding herself. Just get out of here and you will never again have to see the woman. By the time Amanda left her room, Lina was agitated enough to get out of bed by herself as soon as the door closed, never mind the now-cold coffee in her cup.
