Chapter 18Emery Emery laughed as she ran across a field, holding hands. The sun was warm on her back, the hand in hers soft but strong as it pulled her along. She struggled to keep up with legs that felt wrong. They felt too short; she was closer to the ground than she should be. It was hard to match the stride of the young woman beside her.
