HER
Rhadha stifled a yawn for the third time this busy afternoon.
Her activities today are quite exhausting and she regretted ever attending her dad's wedding instead of resting at home yesterday.
A little stretch of her body with a physically and emotionally troubling signals from her cheerful colleague, Nasir, she pushed herself off the wall.
Today consists of the FLY(S)E monthly visitations.
Enlightening schools, visiting orphanage homes with some provisions, visiting some reputable people's houses for fundraising and so on.
With Rhadha as the president of this non governmental organization called Family,Life and Youth(s*x) Education, FLY(S)E for short, her task is more demanding.
She practically tells other members their part to play, she observes, supervises and almost always performs the jobs of the other five active members.
With sleepy feet, rumbling stomach and drowsy brain, she walks to the third hall in the school.
Nasir and Madina took the first hall, filled with junior students between the ages of eleven to thirteen, educating them on environmental sanitation and adolescent changes.
The second hall, taken by Mathew and Rhashi,is only filled with one gender alone. The boys of ages between fourteen to seventeen as their topic is a little private and some may not be able to speak up with the opposite gender around.
This idea was Rhadha's and she was proud of her reasons.
Their topic : Man, Sexuality and Diseases.
This particular topic gave Rhadha sleepless night because of her expected positive outcome.
A proud smirk on her tired face and a mental pat on her back, Rhadha walked to the third hall.
She had little faith with one of the topic handlers in this hall.
Her vice president.
Victoria Okoji.
if I could fire members...
To say Rhadha was expecting a disaster would have been a crazy thought but with Victoria Okoji, disasters are like weeds in the forest.
Absolutely normal.
sighs
Victoria is bad with this job but when money and family ties can buy anything,of course, why not buy the position of an educationist.
Rhadha could still remember how Victoria's mum fought tooth and nail for her daughter to become the president of this NGO but failed miserablely.
It's not Rhadha's fault that most parents voted her as the head speaker to their children.
It will be a year in few weeks time since Rhadha became the president and Victoria, the miserable and ungrateful vice.
Few determined steps and Rhadha is standing in the third hall.
Disappointment is expected.
And Rhadha got exactly that.
victoria is nowhere to be found.
She observes the students once more.
This hall is filled with girls only.
From fourteen to seventeen as their topic is same as that of the boys only and will revolve around said gender .
If anything, Rhadha wouldn't want to have a misunderstanding with Victoria, but the said topic handler is not present.
She walked up to the second handler; Damilola. She seems to be really struggling with the class.
"Hai Dami" A distressed smiled passed across Damilola face .
She almost always panicked when speaking with Rhadha.
Rhadha knows.
This is the reason Rhadha always allows Dami express herself.
Damilola is an anxious woman that once called Rhadha scary.
Rhadha could see the fear that passed through Damilola eyes.
"Hai" If it was up to Rhadha, the class wouldn't be this noisy.
She wanted to give Victoria a chance to prove herself useful.
Of course one adult shouldn't be handling a class filled with almost a hundred teenage girls, that was why Dami joined the class with two other teachers who are also not in the hall.
"Victoria?" Rhadha questioned.
"she went out " Dami quickly replied.
With a nod, Rhadha moved closer to Dami.
Since Victoria is not taking this serious, Rhadha decided within her to take up the topic and relieve Dami from all the work.
Besides, the girl looks like she found faint any moment now.
The hall is the medium between the three, with bright lights, wide windows and enough breathing space between the girls and a stage capacity of just ten people.
Rhadha observed as Dami took the topic.
She noted a lot of mistakes and Dami is reading directly from her note book.
Unsatisfied and still waiting for Victoria but to no avail, Rhadha joined Dami on the stage.
Some students that remembered Rhadha stood up and clapped, some screamed happily while very few were asking what is going on.
With her usual professional smile, she waved the students to sit before taking over the mic while Dami moved aside.
A sigh left Rhadha's lips into the mic before her voice vibrated across the hall.
"Truly grateful beloved.
Thank you" With a genuine smile,Rhadha introduced herself before bringing up the topic.
Without wasting much time, she continued from where she assumed Dami stopped.
Throughout Rhadha's lecture, Victoria didnt come back to that hall.
As she taught fluently, conjuring her two years experience in the job,Dami couldn't help but admire her and realised that the students too enjoyed Rhadha's lession as the hall was so quiet, the only voice that could be heard was Rhadha's alone.
Questions were asked and equally answered but all the while, Dami was inspired once more by the teachings of her president.
She was happy to see the interaction between Rhadha and the students.
This should be a talent,Dami thought.
With cute smiles and little waves, Rhadha dismissed the students and concluded the last activity of the day.
Rhadha was beyond tired now but she still had to go see Dr Candace.
It sounded like something important for the doctor to call it an emergency.
After dismissing the students, members of the FYH(S)E came together at the principal's office.
All except Victoria.
Trying to discern her whereabouts would be asking too much of Rhadha.
After all, Victoria is not a kid and she is not dumb but she doesn't know how to listen as well.
Besides, Rhadha is just too tired and is already looking forward to leaving the school.
In the meeting with the principal, she asked Nasir to speak on her behalf.
"I can't thank you guys enough for this. I am glad you considered our school for this." The principal was happy that her students found a teaching session fun and motivating.
Rhadha was pleased.
"Although, there is a girl that came with you..."
Victoria
It wasn't a guess, Rhadha knew for certain.
" She is at the senior chemistry lab. Sleeping" The kind principal was sympathizing with Victoria, thinking she was sick.
She partied all through the weekend
Rhadha can still guess for a fact that Victoria was not sick at all but lied to the principal.
Nasir nods to the principal.
" sorry about that. we will go get her on our way out of the school." They exchanged their goodbyes and departed from the school .
Nasir and Rhashi waited behind to take care of Victoria, while Rhadha, Madina,Mathew and Dami went together in Madina's Peugeot car.
As of now,Rhadha can't understand why that spoiled girl does what she does.
Does being the only child mean being crazy and wild?
Rhadha could relate with Victoria about having rich parents but not wasting ones life?
As much as Rhadha doesn't like her, she pities the girl.
Eighteen and already going rotten.
It would take ten minutes to get to Dr Candace hospital.
Why she messaged Rhadha all of a sudden was a mystery but Rhadha is curious to know what her mum's friend and a big funder for FYH(S)E called her for.
"I will text you some pointers on how to handle a class " Since Dami was sitting beside her at the backseat,Rhadha recalled how poorly the girl did in the hall.
Those students could have easily chewed and spit her out.
With a loud gulp,Dami nodded.
To be nervous in front of a class is a bad idea.
And Rhadha dropped in front of one of the biggest hospitals in Abuja.
Collins Specialist Hospitals.
The hospital has a reputation of success surgeries.
Owned and managed by the husband and his wife, Dr Nikolai and Dr Candace Collins.
