The new creature advances towards me, and I take a step back, my heart pounding in my chest. Just as I am about to turn and run, the creature stops, its red eyes softening for a brief moment. It tilts its head as if trying to communicate something to me. My fear is momentarily replaced by confusion. What is happening? I'm standing there trembling, looking at it. It's like it's trying to figure out something, or it's trying to get me to understand something. I keep looking sideways, searching for Edward, and my eyes get a glimpse of his discarded clothes. Tears start falling from my eyes. Edward is dead. This beast probably took care of him, and I'm next. I'm going to die, and even though I know that's what's about to happen, I just find myself saying, "Please don't kill me." And right
