I make a run for it, and he quickly grabs me. I'm shouting and screaming and fighting out of his hold when he speaks directly into my ear. I accidentally hit him in the nose with my head, but he keeps talking until I finally hear what he's saying.
"Come down, come down, Ruby, it's me, it's me. Come on, come down, it's me."
After a while, my body suddenly relaxes, hearing his assuring voice. I relax in his arms, and he holds me close, pulling me into his chest. I lay my head against him and release a sigh of relief.
