Chapter 3: Chapter Three: Introducing the "Business" Quintina Foster was a top graduate from an Ivy League university, and with her capabilities, supporting herself and even her parents would have been no issue at all. However, H City was Lambert Hobson's territory. After their divorce a year ago, he had made it clear that no company in H City should hire Quintina Foster, which meant that for the past year, no place dared to take her in. She had considered taking her parents abroad; as long as they were out of Lambert Hobson's reach, it would be much harder for him to control her. But she couldn't do that. The Jian family business was her father's lifeblood, and he needed to reclaim it. She understood her parents and her elder brother; if the roles were reversed, they wouldn't want to leave in disgrace either. She would do everything in her power to restore things to how they once were before her parents recovered and before her elder brother was released from prison. As for those grievances, she would eventually get her revenge. Upon returning home, she received a call from Virginia Maxwell. Half an hour later, the two met at a bar. "Last night didn't work out. President didn't accept me, so I can't pay you the commission," Quintina Foster said apologetically. Virginia Maxwell lit a cigarette, and through the swirling smoke, she squinted at Quintina Foster for a moment before sneering, "It's quite something that President still has the interest to toy with his ex-wife." Quintina Foster lowered her gaze, remaining silent. "Are you really that desperate for money?" "Yes, very much so." Quintina Foster did not deny it. "Well, if you weren't, you wouldn't have come to me," Virginia Maxwell said, sizing her up. As a seasoned madam who dealt with the upper echelons, she had seen all kinds of beauties, but she had to admit that Quintina Foster was exceptionally beautiful. Once like a pampered flower, after her family's downfall and the hardships she endured, there was now a resilience about her that was captivating. Many men in H City had designs on Quintina Foster, but none had dared to approach her in over a year. The implications behind this might not have occurred to Quintina Foster, but someone like her could guess, which was why she facilitated last night's arrangement. Unfortunately, it ended in disappointment. Putting out her cigarette, she handed over a business card. "President Liu from Oceanic International. He'll pay 500,000 for one night. If you agree, call this number." Although he was a lecher, he was also one of her more generous and considerate clients, a small act of mercy for the former heiress, Quintina Foster. Quintina Foster took the card. "Thank you, Sister Linya." Virginia Maxwell waved her hand. "As long as you don't blame me later. After all, once you enter this line of work, the mud will never wash off." "They will trample your body and dignity. Of course, if you're lucky, you won't be in it for long." Quintina Foster gripped her cup, her voice tight. "I know. I'm prepared for it." "As long as you've thought it through, that's good." Just then, Virginia Maxwell received a phone call. Her expression changed, and she sat up straight, speaking respectfully, "I understand. I will arrange it as instructed. Yes, I understand. It won't happen again..." After hanging up, Virginia Maxwell looked at Quintina Foster with a complicated expression. "Someone warned me not to introduce you to any more 'business.'" Quintina Foster was taken aback. "Who?" "Who else? I can't afford to offend that big shot," Virginia Maxwell said, standing up and taking back the business card from Quintina Foster. She left some cash on the table, put on her sunglasses, and left the café. Quintina Foster frowned, her mind racing. She knew that only Lambert Hobson would target her like this, but what was his intention? Could it be that he didn't want her to sell herself to other men?
